calmar 22,802
I don't get it is this suppose to be a bad thing? It's damning for the Russians since they're supposedly not militaristically involved with the rebels in Ukraine and have not crossed the border. This proves otherwise. hmm 979
Germany and Russia have been working on a secret plan to broker a peaceful solution to end international tensions over Ukraine. The Independent can reveal that the peace plan, being worked on by both Angela Merkel and Vladimir Putin, hinges on two main ambitions: stabilising the borders of Ukraine and providing the financially troubled country with a strong economic boost, particularly a new energy agreement ensuring security of gas supplies. More controversially, if Ms Merkel’s deal were to be acceptable to the Russians, the international community would need to recognise Crimea’s independence and its annexation by Russia, a move that some members of the United Nations might find difficult to stomach. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/land-for-gas-secret-german-deal-could-end-ukraine-crisis-9638764.html Glad to see a Western country actually working on ending the crisis on Ukraine, through actions - particularly peaceful ones. It's just sad that Germany is the only one doing it, even though it would likely lead to peace. I guess as a side-effect it will also improve German-Russian relations, which in turn I guess improves EU-Russian relations, or maybe I'm over simplifying that aspect :spin:

hmm 979
Hmm. We will see how this goes. It's probably the only likely solution there is It's all well and good referring to the sovereign boundaries of Ukraine but when there's a majority that do not wish to accept that (in certain areas), there's no point enforcing it on them when the eventuality (either short or long term) will be just more violence

Applause 650
Double standards much? Kind of reminds me of the Cuban crisis just this time near Russia. But, let's hope it doesn't get as intense. Of course, it isn't as intense in this case. Xalser
