  1. 1. Who will be the queen of pop ten years from now?

    • Madge still (Ugh, at least she has iconic arms)
    • Gaga Bitches! **** you all muther****ers! Buy Anything Goes on iTunes.
    • Kety, female MJ and black haired Madonna tbh
    • Beyonce (God be with you if you don't vote for her and the Beygency gets you)
    • Damn, these bitches ain't got nothing on the real pop queen chanteuse. The one and only queen bitch, Asia :legend:

Beyoncé is more RnB queen though...

True. But she's lumped in with the pop girls, too. I don't know

Yeah, that's something that puzzles me as well. Maybe the R&B she makes is so popular, they are considered as pop (pop coming from the word popular)

No, Michael Jackson is still regarded as the King of Pop, so why would the position of "Queen" be any different.

Michael Jackson is very different from Madonna. The reason why he'll always be the King of Pop is his talent, no other male performer will ever come close to it. Madonna is seen as the Queen of Pop because of how long she lasted, she doesn't have much talent and could be replaced someday if someone last as long as her (which won't be easy).

Also, no one is really a contender for male artists imo

Talent in what way? Both are known for having lip-synced now and then, both are great dancers. I think Madonna is a bit more experimental and creative (you could argue the creative control aspect I guess), so...

Naive

She paved the way for female artists to be controversial (s-xual/religious imagery), she is still one of the best performers on earth and she has had a ton of hits and success.

Y'all... Madonna can't be queen of pop forever... Be realistic. I mean, how may teens of today really stan for Madonna? I mean none of my friends care about her and all they say is "she's old".

Gaga is like Madonna... She isn't GP friendly but ultimately she'll make it out as queen eventually.

And of course she won't be queen forever.

And btw... I'm sorry little madonna stans but she will eventually retire or worse. Sorry but y'all need to realize that.

Inb4 a certain infamous Madonna stan comes and gives Gaga s--t (as usual).

Elvis has been dead for almost 40 years and is still considered the King of Rock & Roll. Keep in mind, he really didn't do anything of musical or artistic importance for the last 20 years of his career, but he's still considered so important because he was such an icon and made such huge breakthroughs at the start of his career. Same with Michael Jackson and his career, but there's no doubt he's the King of Pop.

Madonna will always, always be considered the Queen of Pop because of the breakthroughs she made for women in the industry and the fact that no other pop star has matched how huge she was in the 80s and the early 90s. What solidifies her impact even more is that she's still going 32 years later and still makes innovative, popular work and has huge commercial success (highest grossing tour of 2012 at age 54). She'd still have this status even if she was dead or had completely faded away, but the fact the she's still alive and strong and will stay around for a long time into the future means that it's virtually impossible any pop star will take this title away from her.

To me, Madonna is the Queen of Pop. I have a love/hate thing with Madonna. I grew up with her and love some of her music, but other times she's said or done things I haven't agreed with and I think she can be totally ridiculous. But I'm not going to deny the iconic status she has cemented and no other female pop star has come close yet.

This isn't a bash on Gaga, as much as it is an acknowledgement of what Madonna has accomplished. You can pay respect to one without bashing the other.
