Gaga said she doesn't think she could top ARTPOP

Had this conversation on chat, i came to the conclusion that out of the 100 or so songs she wrote and 40 or so she actually recorded, her label probably chose the worst I still love ARTPOP, and its my second favorite Gaga album, but imagine an album full of PN's, and further imagine that PN wasnt even the best of the best, we Could be looking at some of her best material (if her label ever decides to release it :megaflop: )

During the August Applause interviews, almost every time, she said that she actually didn't include Applause on her own tracklist. She chose songs for her manager to hear and Applause wasn't even on the list, but her manager wanted to hear more and ended up listening to every song she wrote/recorded. She explained how Applause eventually became a single with this weird story:

"He said: 'Every song I'm hearing is better than the last one, so the last song should be the single!' so that's how we ended up choosing it."

I for one don't believe that, since I find it very unlikely that Gaga's list went from best to worst in the eyes of Gaga and worst to best in the eyes of her manager Nobody is making that up, she said it at least three times in August 2013.

Her sharing that information changed my entire point of view on this era.

But I see on here all the time "Gaga hates Applause" "Gaga hates Do what U Want" and obviously she doesn't hate Applause, obviously she wanted it on the album if she tweeted the lyrics. You can reference anything but at the end of the day she's also said she loves Applause and she tweeted about it and hyped it...I know that it wasn't her ideal lead single but I think she wanted it on the album. It was only the last few months that I realized ARTPOP was my favorite Gaga album. I knew it was mainly a record that shined when performed live. After going to the rave I can confidently say that it is my favorite Gaga record. It’s better than any of her previous work.

Applause and Venus are my tracks. I can’t live without those two songs. How wonderful life is with ARTPOP in the world.

100% agree for these I'll add Gypsy to the list too, the problem is that they're 1/3 of the album. And with original, I meant the musical composition (by far we know that 5 songs contains samples or are somebody else's scrapped demos).

She's probably talking about the version of ARTPOP she had before Interscope tried to commercialize it.

But Gaga's always been very hyperbolic when talking about new projects that she's passionate about. It's best to take everything with a grain of salt.

That's quite an assumption. We don't know much of what goes on behind the scenes, and the industry is quite complex when it comes to a superstar of this level. There's no way she gets full creative control on her 4th album. She played Interscope the record in September and then went back to the studio many times, exhausted, and didn't finalize the tracklist until later in October. I seriously doubt she had full control of all the decisions made during the finalization of the album. She implied she didn't choose Applause to go on the tracklist, for starters. And do you really think she wanted Donatella and Fashion! over tracks like MJH (the last on to make the cut), Partynauseous, and all the other more experimental songs? Not to mention the changes made to Aura and the fact that she performs the demo version on tour.

Gaga said countless times that ARTPOP was exactly the vision she had for it. And the reason why certain songs didn't make the cut was because she had a very specific vision of what Act I should be like.

 

And as for the demo version of Aura, Gaga said herself that the final version was her vision for the song and that's why she changed the vocal style.

She's a really good sport when it comes to not lashing out at her label /management, and just rolling with the changes they make, but they do make changes all the time. She told fans it was her choice to switch from Venus to DWUW, and that both songs would have videos. That wasn't true, and none of it happened, but she doesn't want to create an image of discord. 

 

I mean you're free to believe that this album was exactly how she invisioned it until she says otherwise, but it's very unlikely, and you made it sound like a fact in your post.

It's obvious in itself that what Gaga originally invisioned for ARTPOP is not how she invisioned it towards the end. The concept changed, her ideas changed, the style changed. Things just evolved and became different.

The reason the demo version wasn't put on the album is because she leaked it. Interscope didn't want a leaked track on the album so they made her re record the vocals if she wanted the song to make the cut.
