HermioneGranger 608
Everyone who has seen one Hobbit and one Lotr film can understand which one was put more effort in making and was better. Correct. I don't think they tried their best.

I'll say it one last time. You probably haven't readden the books. If you had you'd know that TLOTR books are also better than the The Hobbit. HermioneGranger 608
Honey, don't talk to me about Tolkien using the word ''us''. I can tell with confidence that I've readden more of him than you and not because I know how much you know about him but because I know how much I know about him. I've readden all his work regarding Middle Earth and when I say all I mean even his letters. The Hobbit isn't even as good as his other works to begin with. It's a very important piece of literature that was written aprox 100 years ago and for a kids tale it's very high quality but as a book it is not that good. All the great dialogues exist in the movies as well and the movies don't lack many things of the book and they also have many things that the book doesn't. Don't talk to me as if I havn't read Tolkiens work! I have! This is not a competition about who have read the most of Tolkien. I said that The Hobbit movies are not that good and you disagreed, fine for me, whatever. The point is The Hobbit movies aren't made that well and will not be remembered as the best movies of the year. They will be remembered purely because they are involved in the Tolkien work. And for you to say that they are better then the Harry Potter movies is just stupid. Get your facts straight before you open your mouth.

I never said it was a competition, I don't like it when others act superior to me about things I've devoted my life to. And yes they are obviously better than the HP movies. They have better actors than the amateur ones the have in the HP movies, they have much better direction, much better special effects, they have much better scenery and the most important part they have more quality background to support them, Middle Earth. So yeah they are better. As a proud member of the HP generation and a fan that grew up with the movies and saw them all in the theaters I can honestly say that the movies are mediocore. I do love them and I'll alway swatch them when the TV plays them bu it has a lot to do with the fact that they mean a lot to me and I am not an objective viewer. When I view them objectively they are mediocore. The Hobbit movies have a lot of flaws as well but as movies they are superior from all sides. Many actors in Harry Potter are kids though, so that might be why you say that. The special effects are better in The Hobbit because it's never therefore they have better technology. The scenery in Harry Potter is obviously perfection (don't forget to open your eyes when watching a movie). You can have your point, that's fine, but I know what I think is right and that's what matters to me. I hate the whole Middle Earth vs. Harry Potter thing. It's so stupid and not needed in the slightest. I don't like it when people act superior towards me either, that's why I snapped at you.

Also when kid actors grow up you don't kno wo they will become good actors as adults and this was the case with many actors in the HP movies. There is not much real scenery in Harry Potter except from Hogwards and some nice shots in the Half Blood Prince and the Deadthly Hallows. I don't wanna fight for such stupid things, you can love HP and I have no reason to judge you, I also love it anyway. The whole discussion just came up from the whole The Hobbit wasn't a good movie which is also only an opinin. Let's end this here.
lucia4 0
@^: True about kid actors. In Modern Family the actor for Luke has just gotten worse over the years, whereas Hailey has become really good. In HP they were all terrible at the beginning imo but some like Emma Watson got really good at the end. As for bad effects -- really? I thought the last 2 movies were absolutely amazing. So much atmosphere and beauty. @the trailer: Omg the CGI looks soooo bad! Why does it look worse than LotR which was released like a decade ago? Even on this LQ trailer I can tell the carriage and army scenes are totally 3D. :') It's just so big for no reason. There were 20 minutes of the dwarves being lost in the forest thingy. And the dragon scene as well as the Gollum scene in the 1st were big for reason aswell. It's just the fact that there is no material for 3 films and they are stretching out. Exactly! The 2nd movie was sooo dull and had no interesting story whatsoever. It was just walk walk action scene walk walk action scene. There's that boring barrels-in-the-water scene (horrible 3D there), the dragon went on for ages, the movie ended at a "wtf? ok" moment. The action wasn't even interesting because I don't care about the dwarves at all. I know they have to stay true to the source material but there are only 2 interesting dwarves and even their personality is just some dumbed down stereotype. Idk I'm a huge fan of Tolkien's work but the only interesting thing in these Hobbit movies are Gandalf and the forest wizard dude that got cut from the original trilogy. There should've just been one or two movies. As it is they have terrible narrative flow. How do I put this... The movies are pretty grand-scale but there's not much at stake? It's just not engaging. There's no rising tension. In LotR it was like a snow ball. Everything got worse and worse and more dangerous and scary until the amazing climax. In The Hobbit the story just kinda goes on and on without escalating drama.
