Kayla 7,595
Looking back through the fanbase, it's like they've shifted what they focus most on. I remember years ago when we had tons of threads FILLED with discussions a--lyzing the symbolism and meanings of her songs and videos. We've always been a critical fanbase, we've always digged deeper into what Gaga's doing. It's just that we've switched from spending hours talking about her art to spending hours talking about her chart success and other business-related things. Goodness, music video threads used to be in the HUNDREDS of pages before the video was even released! We don't get as excited anymore, and we don't focus on the fun as much anymore. It's sad. ARTPOPchamp 292
Duh. Not a second goes by where Monsters don't criticize what Gaga does or compare it to something else. @mossiemonstre77 has good opinions about this subject.
ThatSLAYGUY 68
So I'm not allowed to be upset that my favourite song got cut And yes I do think that 'fans' do cross the line and it especially annoys me when some didn't even buy ARTPOP and yet bash it to death
blacklistedd 599
I think everyones entitled to their opinions. However, I think the overall negativity towards Gaga displayed by everyone outside of the fanbase, and especially the media, influences fans to be even more hypercritical than everyone else I guess as an attempt to be one step ahead of the haters so they don't feel like as affected by it? Thats why you get those types of fans that like practically act like they hate her the way they talk about her yet they're still basically following her every move. They love her, they just feel ashamed to like her so they criticize her. And yeah I think, like me, maybe a lot of people do ponder her taste level sometimes but ultimately theres a line between doing too much and just having a casual opinion. I think at this point her fans can't see that line anymore, theres too much stigma attached to liking her to the point that you discuss her, so the only way they feel like they exempt themselves from that stigma is by being predominantly negative. And if they like something she does, they immediately have to follow it with something backhanded. That way they can follow her and like her but not be seen as delusional or whatever. Nein 508
There's nothing wrong with being critical, but a lot of people tend to cross the line into being malicious. And many accusations are based on ignorance and child-like ways of thinking. People only want to see it from one perspective, when there are many. A lot of narrow-minded fans. But, then again, there are a lot of narrow-minded people in the world so I'm not completely surprised.
jthorn 37
No. Not when it comes to a show people paid hundreds of dollars for. I can see people being upset that their favorite songs got cut/shortened. I can understand that she probably can't preform as long as she used to but oh well I guess? I hate this. You pay to go and watch her show... not to own her.
Ronk 14,930
Yes. Fans forget that Gaga is the artist, not them. Artists need to follow their own creative vision, not try to produce to someone else's vision. I live outside the space time continuum.

Tropico 4,145
Would I get in trouble (like get a WP) for listing a bunch of members who are overly critical? (Legit question) And yes. Well this site at least. I know fans outside of this fansite like on Instagram and Twitter who are so nice and give their opinions in a civilized way. THOSE are the true fans. But on this site you get people who bring the catty, b---hy gay guy sterotype to life. It's disgusting. They bash EVERYTHING she does and most are people from the fame monster days who are mad at her for not being the it girl anymore. They haven't liked anything since and they spread negativity like a virus. Not even constructive critism... They are just rude. They do it so they don't seem obsessed with Gaga or something... Or as they say... "Delusional" () . They will be like to anyone who likes the topic "You kiss Gaga's ass and like everything she does" or "I'm allowed to have an opinion." And yes everyone's allowed to have an opinion but you don't need to be such a motherf--king b---h about it. And no one can blame Gaga for not being a b---h. She is nice but she insists on kindness yet the "fans" on here bash her all the time. It's gross. But wouldn't blame the whole fanbase... Just tons of people on here. And you know what? Those are the people who bash people on LM.com for being nice. What the actual f--k? ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢

freebit 6,264
Gaga fans are the new Britney fans tbh. It hasn't gotten old Exhale-level bad yet, but the base is giving them a run for their money.Looking back through the fanbase, it's like they've shifted what they focus most on. I remember a few months back I had a really great conversation with a fan on another forum about the s-xual symbolism in Venus, G.U.Y. and Sexxx Dreams and it was so refreshing. The discussion of flops and "recapturing the GP" is just so stale, yet that seems to be all anyone wants to talk about here.

giskardsb 12,565
Tagging on Blacklistedds comment, a lot of people for whatever reason are embarrased to be Gaga fans and invariably are the ones calling for her to go back to TFM era everything because they felt better about her and themselves then. I think many of these are embarrassed simply for the simple reason she's not on top anymore. Some are embarrassed that she's embarked on a different direction or has gotten "pretentious" in their eyes. Frankly many of those people need to go find some other pop star to Stan for until Gaga does something they like again. Wallowing in the past and being angry about the present does neither themselves or this fanbase any favors.
