Tropico 4,145
I didn't say that... Wanting pop / dance doesn't mean making a copy / paste of TF and TFM... Well I'm just saying ARTPOP is clearly dancepop too. Aura, Applause, G.U.Y. Are dance tracks. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢
AbuHassan1992 766
Oh I get the concept for The Fame. I just think it isn't as amazing and mind blowing as TFM, BTW and ARTPOP. explain. I'm not saying i disagree or anything, but how is ARTPOP more mindblowing than the fame? Personally, I think the fame is genius. It's a fun, smart, satrical commentary on culture and society, and the songs all have some sort of connection and fit within the concept of the album. I love ARTPOP, but the songs don't really fit within the concept. I get what she's trying to do with the concept, but i fail to see any of it in the songs. Could you expalin how you see ARTPOP (and in comparison to the fame)?

Actually I would not be against the idea of having more songs like The Second Time Around, Out of Control, Animal, NOBTR or No Way. I mean that's just pop and catchy and quite simple (lyrics + sounds). But they are f*cking good ! :) I trust Gaga when it comes to write new catchy songs and make it original ! Sometimes the simplest things are the best :P

thefamefatale 264
Tired of people saying The Fame has no meaning. Lol and then they try to act all high and mighty because they think they have ARTPOP all figured out (you know who you are). Gaga always has a message and it will always remain that way. don't be a drag

I love artpop, but the songs don't really fit within the concept. I get what she's trying to do with the concept, but i fail to see any of it in the songs. Could you expalin how you see artpop (and in comparison to the fame)? Gaga's main idea was to bring art into pop culture as we all know. This being a reverse Warholian experience. She managed to do this by allowing internationall recognised artists like Jeff Koons and Marina to do art with her and for her. She exposes the GP and fans to this art by doind so. And the artwork she did herself earlier also exposes fans to artwork. She explored a variety of different art this era. Performance art being one of them. Millie Brown being involved in the Swine performance. That made quite the impact on the world (pop culture). And also ARTPOP commented on pop culture. Gaga did this through her art (music). With songs like DWUW, ARTPOP and Donatella Gaga targets pop culture through her art. Also fashion. Gaga constantly referenced famous art through the era. The birth of Venus being one (and Venus itself is ARTPOP). There was also that outfit in which she had like weird make up to make it look like 2 faces. The outfit won in france earlier this year. Fashion is an art itself. But Gaga referenced art through art. But I feel ARTPOP was treated beyond unfairly by not having a chance to do as Gaga wanted. She had prepared so much visuals and ideas for this era but due to management she was unable to do so. Bringing art into pop culture was done but there was so much more which could've been done. :( And I just feel that ARTPOP is more complex and thought provoking. Like how she says ARTPOP could mean anything... With art it isn't exactly defined as this or that like in sciene. It is the way you interpret the art. How you interpret ARTPOP is how you will feel towards it... Like all art. I feel this just made the era more complex than the fame. The Fame's concept is good and all but ARTPOP made me more aware of art. It has done something in which the fame just couldn't for me. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢
miamorevolefeyah 25
I'd rather she have a simple concept and expand and execute it greatly. That would work better, and instead of having an elaborate concept and poor execution. This. She needs a concept that is clear and sharp. If she wants to convey her message and have a social/cultural impact on music, this needs to be done. Born This Way achieved that effectively. I know you're talking about me. And I never said The Fame has no meaning. I said I just don't find it as good as the others. And I feel I have a pretty good idea of all the concepts of her albums. You see, just because ARTPOP's conept wasn't as simple as The Fame doesn't mean it has none. I like The Fame's concept. I wasn't saying anything which you are saying or implying. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢

It's fantastic. But the fact that you're trying to tear down past albums that d e f i n e d her as an artist is just funny to me. don't be a drag

I agree, anyone could work out what the message of Born This Way and it was beautiful. ARTPOP however (Although I absolutely love the album) did not execute it's message as effectively and therefore the GP disregarded it (It too me 5eva to work it out kinda)
blahblahblahhhh 15
Nope. Bold statements and being unafraid to fail if the masses don't 'get it' is one of the things I love most about Gaga and her music. It makes her music intelligent, it makes her music artistic, it makes her music stand out from everything else on the radio. I'm not here for her compromising her artistic integrity and creating a vapid, dumbed down album for the sake of some hits. I agree with you to an extent. But she wasn't compromising her artistic integrity while making TFM/BTW and those two albums had songs that everyone could relate to. That's what I miss about Gaga's music. ARTPOP was an album full of songs that are closely connected to her own experiences (which is totally fine, I mean, she is the artist) but that led to people not being able to connect to her. I know I had that issue. A lot of ARTPOP songs are highly conceptual (lyrics-wise) and that's not necessarily a bad thing unless you can also deliver in the relatability department. All of the BTW/TFM fell very personal, very intimate, honest and that's what makes that album special, whereas ARTPOP lacks that intimate atmosphere. Sure, I am all up for her having strong concepts, but just make them real and human.
ryhanna 3,507
I got the concept and what she's trying to do, but i fail to see how the songs on ARTPOP (maybe except for ARTPOP) are artistic. They're smart and inteligent, that's for sure, but where's the art? Well, first of all, art is in the eye of the beholder. You may not necessarily see it, but that doesn't mean that it's not there. Secondly, I can't answer that by telling you where the art is because aside from a few songs I'm not a big fan of ARTPOP, personally.
