How is the music video of DWUW "an ad for rape"?!

But anyone who thinks that she rarely or has never made a mistake, they are way more credible.

Nice, deflect my statement on another group. It's telling that you didn't refute my claim that you criticise gaga on a lot of thing (too much some would say). As for those people yes they're more credible given that it is expected of stans. Besides looking at her objectively she hasn't done a lot of things that deserve all the vitriol and criticism against her.

It's out now and she needs to respond to the video.

She already has. What will happen if that is all you get? Will you move on then?

Because, by your words, this video and Gaga are supporting rape. How could you stand by someone who is trivializing s-xual assault and supporting alleged s-xual predators? How can you continue to be a fan of someone who is insensitive, terrible, uncaring, stupid, desperate and is trivializing victims of rape?

If you really believe all those things, but are still a fan, that says more about you than it does about Gaga.

Next time, if you want to come after me, come after me. Don't say I'm deflecting on another group if you don't even directly address me.

I criticize and I commend. The difference is, people only care when I criticize. No one ever says "omg why do you compliment her so much". To anyone. It's the same thing when people write reviews on Amazon and Yelp and stuff. People are much more likely to write reviews that criticize than reviews that compliment.

So yeah! I criticize Gaga on tons of things. I commend Gaga on tons of things too. And you're right! She hasn't done much to deserve the hatred that has come her way.

In no way does that discredit the claims of insensitivity towards s-xual assault that have so far plagued this video. Let me put it this way: if person A commits a lot of crimes, and person B reports every crime that person A does, does that discredit future claims that person B makes? No. It doesn't. Just because you perceive me to be often critical of Gaga, does that mean that this criticism of this video is invalid? No.

That's why I hate when people make blanket statements (like you did) that "anyone who doesn't agree with me must be _____" or "the only people who dont like this are the same people that always hate everything". Like, stop. Stop trying to write off opinions that you don't agree with as invalid due to frequency or status. I might be the most dramatic and critical person here, but my argument can still be just as valid as yours or any stan's.

1. You don't know me personally, so let's not pretend that you know what certain things say about me.

2. I'm sorry to turn your words back on you, but I think you're becoming hysterical now because I'm critical of Gaga. The bolded portion is bombastic and cringeworthy. Please, try and remain rational.

3. My reaction should be of no concern to you. I will react in whatever manner I personally deem appropriate.

He's not criticising Gaga as a person or saying that she's an awful, insensitive, terrible, uncaring and stupid person. Try not to mistake a criticism of the video for a criticism of Gaga herself. We all know that she's a wonderful human being. But even the greatest human beings can still make mistakes...

The bolded part and everything in that paragraph were the words you used to describe Gaga. So...your words are cringeworthy, right?

You can't answer the question, can you? Because you know that you will stick around, no matter what, so that you can continue with your "bombastic and cringeworthy" criticism.

It won't matter how Gaga responds or if she ever responds, you will still be here. In that way, you are supporting that " insensitive, terrible, uncaring, stupid, desperate woman who is trivializing victims of rape". (from your own words)

You're confusing my criticism of the video with insults to her.

It's the difference of "you did something stupid" vs. "you're stupid".

I think she's a lovely person. I admire her so much for her compassion and her strong statements for the de-stigmatization of mental health. She is someone who truly wants to be a force for good in this world and I admire that so much.

That's why this video bothers me so much. Not only does it make her look bad, but it's just not in line with the values and messages that she's championed in the past. She's just better than this. I know that if she ever met with victims of s-xual assault, she would be so sensitive and compassionate and empathetic. This video is just not an accurate representation of her and what she stands for and that bothers me. It's almost the opposite.  :fat:

You sound so pressed :lmao:

I think I made it pretty clear I was coming after you. Didn't know you required it to be spelt out for you.

Pray tell, how is Gaga being insensitive? I remember you were one of those who criticised the SXSW performance. Yeah, I can pretty safely say your opinion is rather invalid to me. And it's also wrong. The video is clearly an extension of the song which uses a s-xual theme (do what u want WITH MY BODY) to describe how the media treats its stars. There is no insensitivity, no glamorising of rape, no rape-ads.

No, it was just a fun topic to write about. Haha.

Eh. You were ****ty at coming from me.

Yes! I was one of those who criticized the SXSW performance. I'm flattered you remember. Pity, I don't remember you at all though. Maybe I will next time you can't handle my opinion. Nevertheless, your comments are cute. I'm sure you think your opinion is right and mine is wrong. At the end of the day, they're just opinions and they can't be "right" or "wrong". If it makes you feel better, sure, you can be "right".

It's definitely not. Pressed haters are trying to damage Gaga's reputation - just like they do.

But the definitely is an ad for dry-humping :lmao:

The video is most definitely NOT about promoting rape. I see why would the media and random people pick up on that, but I can't believe some Little Monsters are jumping on that train! It's so clear to me the video represents the part of her life when she was injured and vulnerable, and needed a time to heal, but the media, her management, and all the people around her kept pushing her to start work asap, turning her life into mess. The rape connotations are just representing something she was forced to do against her will. She was feeling like a puppet in their hands. I'm sure this was her idea for the video, it even includes some comical elements ffs. I think it works great with the song and it's message - she surrenders her body, but her mind can never be controlled.

So youre telling me that the theme of the song is how stars are symbolically raped by the media And that this song and the video have nothing to do with rape. okay.

Glamourpuss

No. Not at all! This is a "oh the same people are complaining again". No. And exactly, it concerns me that this was ever even filmed. That at no point did she step back and say "Wow, maybe this isn't the best idea." The music video was conceptualized, filmed, edited, and then someone along the lines said "No, we shouldn't release it." Honestly, it upsets me that this was ever even filmed to begin with. I love her and I look up to her so much. She should know better than this. Especially since she's implied that she's been a survivor of s-xual assault herself. This just look so apathetic and insensitive, not to mention flat out unintelligent.

Honestly, no part of this was a good idea.

Great post.
