Pain of fame1 229
She said ARTPOP is a poetical journey. The transition from MJH to Dope is the most logical thing ever. THIS.
Tropico 4,145
It's a story. It starts off all fun and dance like with weed and then she crashes. That's where Dope comes in. She realizes her mistakes and apologizes for them. Beautiful tbh. :emo: ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢

Kayla 7,595
At first I thought it was weird, not exactly hypocritical but definitely contradictory, given that the songs are like both ends of the same spectrum, but in retrospect I think it was a conscious decision on Gaga's part to have both songs on the album, especially in that order. I think it would've been more hypocritical to include only MJH, a song which glamorizes d--gs when we all know Gaga has been through pretty tough times because of her d--g use. Dope was the perfect way to even things out, it's Gaga's way of saying "Look, d--gs can be fun for a while, but they can make you miserable as well". By having both songs on the album, she's basically acknowledging both the highs and the lows. And there's nothing hypocritical about that. Exactly. djBuffoon 12,118
ARTPOP lyrics: "I tried to sell myself, but I am really laughing Because I just love the music not the bling Music not the bling" MJH lyrics: "I know that Mom and Dad think I'm a mess But it's alright, becauseI am rich as piss" doesn't it sounds fishy? I don't think so. "ARTPOP" (the song) is essentially a thesis for the way that she creates, how it comes from a place of love and integrity. "MJH" is about defiance, to me, and when we are under the influence, sometimes we say/do immature things. The whole idea of the song is that she's not herself when she gets high, hence why "Dope" is such a come-down.

ryhanna 3,507
I see it a bit like a story. Dope is about coming down from the high and seeing things clearly.
