It makes the aspect of in character, with all the wigs makeup etc. seem all part of her stage persona. Even if she is the same person, being recognized as Lady Gaga is better for me. I feel like her real family and friends should call her Stefani, not her fans. Also, Gaga is more unique than Stefani. :P People could confuse Stefani as a ordinary name. But I am sure without the name 'Lady Gaga' she wouldn't have had as much of an impact. It's a name that catches peoples attention and intrigues them to look up who the hell calls herself 'Lady Gaga'.
