To celebrate a sudden personal breakthrough wherein out of nowhere I fell in love with the music and wholeness of ARTPOP (as opposed to fervent but guarded appreciation of it as an artifact), I wanted to request a mashup I've thought about for months. Back in mid/late-2012, while Gaga and DJ White Shadow were touring the Born This Way Ball in Europe, DJWS uploaded the following mixtape to his soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/djwsakadjwhiteshadow/i-like-dance-volume-eleven#t=41:28 You see, the section from 41:28 to 50:18 blew my nips off. I listened to just that part all the time. For... months. Nothing satisfied like those nine minutes. Later, I found out that the first half of that section was a song called "Dissonance" by Monophonix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pj02kFFqd0 But I'd already fully associated the track with Gaga by then because I was starving and dying and an utter shell. Sorry, Monophonix, it's an unreleased Gaga demo to me now. Genius queen :king: So then "Venus" comes out and ALSO blows my nips off. It took me a few listens for my poor nips to understand why, but then I realized that of course Gaga would have been working on "Venus" in mid-2012, and she was probably inspired by a track DJWS ended up putting on his mixtape, considering it was like the same day she posted this. Anyway, /conspiracy theory.
