But ok, have your passive argument and leave the thread if need be. You still don't get it do you. I AM that girl in the vid, years ago, I called my own mother a horrible mother as I will do with that mother, and any mother that does these things. And please save me from the immigrant comment or culture comment, both apply to my life. I've drifted in 3 different countries for months before we ended up in the Netherlands. Honestly, I just think you like hitting your child. I think it makes you feel good. I think you are scared or lack the tools to actually sit down and talk about issues with your kid. You'd rather emotionally distance yourself and hit your child, like that will help guide them through life. You're not actually teaching them anything other than to be fearful of you. The vigor and passion and pride with which you defend hitting your child certainly brings into question your motives. Hitting a child is not a celebratory action, but you seem pleased with yourself. Don't get me wrong I understand where you come from with the cultural part and immigration part. I see what my mom tried to do as well, I had to be spotless and had to get better grades to compensate for the fact that we were immigrants. However when you have examples around you as a kid of children that also act up but not beaten and you're the one that is it makes you wonder why you "deserve" al that. It's also the reason why I noticed our situation at home is fvcked up. How will we know how she ends up? I hope she doesn't end up hating her mom cause beatings by your same s-xe role model can damage trust and above all the very respect that the mom thinks she's earning by smacking her this way.
