Philip 4
Calm down. She doesn't need to be drowned it was only nudes. I think the mother's punishment was just fine. Wait a minute are you guys serious right now? You were never hit with a belt It's not traumatizing trust me ummmmmmm well how about illegal in many countries eh
Morphine Prince 109,645
Also, the APA has stated that corporal punishment is an effective immediate solution for misbehavior. They amend that serious constant punishment over time MAY have effects, but they are unknown if it will surface in the child, or if it will even affect the child. So in short, hitting your child is effective (as long as you don't overdo it constantly) and will be an effective means of controlling the child. If constant exposure to it occurs, then there may be psychological issues. I doubt this woman even hits her child that often, but she probably has given her numerous warnings to not send photos to boys, not stick her ass out in pictures, etc. That worked so well when her child, who's probably 14, send naked pictures over a PUBLIC social networking site, to multiple boys (I heard multiple names aside from Justin). As an immigrant mother who appears to be single, how do you stop your child from doing something after you've told them numerous times to not do it? Just say f*ck it? Furthermore, some of you think that just because people support corporal punishment means they support the abuse of children, which is not the case. The mother did take it overboard, but the daughter probably did learn her lesson and will never do it again. Put yourself in the woman's shoes: your 14 year old has publicly taken nude photos and sent them around. They leaked (which is probably how she found out about them). Not only is the entire school going to see it, but now it's on the internet forever for predators to utilize and possibly target the girl. In addition, if someone posts her name on some forum with the photo, say goodbye to any chances of a career for her. The standards for men and women are different because now the guy who got her nudes is a player, and she'll probably become the attention of horny high school boys all over trying to hook up with her thinking she's an easier lay. THEN you get into the issues of the mother worrying about pregnancy, etc. which is statistically higher for ethnic minorities. There's a plethora of issues that arise from this single event, so let's not act like her committing a felony and distributing child ****ography is really "ok" when so many of you (hopefully) are completely against child ****ography, yet are completely fine with giving pedophiles and perverts fapping material? Makes complete sense Yeah, there's a lot of issues involved. But don't bother, you'll just be called inhumane and disgusting.

SleepingSun 1,351
It get's more disgusting in here by the minute. I am not going to argue with anyone anymore, it is pointless trying to convince some people that violence of any kind in any situation is wrong. All of you defending violence should be deeply ashamed of yourselves. I can't believe what I am reading. I've been studying pedagogics for 5 years now and I guess I will use this thread for my next term paper, to show how little we have achieved yet. Mariann 301
This is do degrading to the girl. I couldn't even watch it until the end. I was never hit with a belt and I think I turned out just fine. First of all you have to actually raise your child so that she would know better than posting nudes on the Internet. I don't think it was right of her to do so but what's done is done. Hopefully she'll learn her lesson. :(
Fusel 1,111
I don't even think it's ok to hit a person in general. Physical inviolability is a right. But abusing your position as a parent to hurt your child's right is even worse. I do not care whether you hit a woman, a grown man or a child: it's never ok. But the latter one is the most condemnable of them all. Respect through violence/ fear / terror is no true respect. If you want to educate your children, don't teach them that what they did is wrong, but why. If you are not able to do that, you are too weak to be a parent. Of course, I don't think this should go unpunished, and I don't think she should be coddled (I don't support child p0rn either, in case that needs clarification) but that doesn't mean her mother has to physically reduce her to a terrified, hysterical mess. Honestly, some of the real-world consequences to posting those photos could have easily scared her into the same state, unless she just doesn't care about her future at all. I'm hoping that there was at least some communication after that, because if the mother/father/any authority figure didn't bother to communicate, how does this really teach that posting nude photos online is dangerous, humiliating, and can lead to serious long-term problems? Sure, it scares her enough to make her stop (at least until her mother can no longer do anything about it), but does this really cover the depth of the issue? MonsterMum 2,532
So as a parent you're going to wait for your child to hit rock bottom before you actually do something about it? No the methods used to prevent it tho vary. You choose to smack your kids around, like that's the only way. Let me put it like this. If that's the only way to let your morals speak, you're not very far off being barbaric.
