Is there a "right" way to put your paws up?

Is there a proper way to do it? 

I bend the ends of my fingers a bit but I've also seen other leave them bent at the start but just straight the rest of the way.

I do it exactly like this: with all fingers bent, the middle finger higher than the rest, and the pinky being really low compared to the rest.

Like, how far do they petrude outwards, or how far down they go? 

If it's the former, they go out relatively far, I mean, far enough to where my fingers can bend almost as if I'm grabbing something.

If it's the latter, the ring and pinky finger go as down as seen on the picture.
