Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's A Star Is Born hits theatres tomorrow, and industry analysts are forecasting a massive debut for the highly-anticipated movie.
According to Box Office Pro, A Star Is Born, which marks Cooper's directorial and Gaga's big screen debut, is estimated to earn between $40 million and $60 million in its first three days in the United States alone. That would make it the second-highest opening weekend ever for a musical film, only behind Disney's Beauty and the Beast, which bowed with $175 million last year.
In the long run, A Star Is Born is estimated to gross over $170 million domestically, but is very likely to beat the projections as the response from both critics and fans has been overwhelmingly positive.
A Star Is Born is based on William Wellman's 1937 film of the same name starring Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. In the pic, Cooper plays Jackson Maine, a country music star on the brink of decline when he discovers a talented unknown named Ally, played by Gaga.
