  1. Oh wow it's been a year already since Harlequin? I would love to see one of her best projects get a little spotlight tbh. Harlequin is better quality than half her main pop albums but the girls don't wanna have that discussion

  2. The whole crowd at a benson Boone concert knowing the lyrics. Shallow the cultural phenomenon that you are.

  6. I don't get how it'd be "extending/relaunching" the MAYHEM era when she's in the middle of a massively successful tour...The MAYHEM era is doing just fine on its own. It's its own standalone project within MAYHEM; it's clearly connected to Wednesday. That said, she's also incorporating it into MAYHEM proper since the aesthetics and sound are very similar to what we've already gotten with the album/era. There's also tour merch with some of the lyrics, so she'll perform it on tour as well.

  7. The movie, as the final cut, yes but saying the album was a mistake is probably the dumbest thing someone can say and I say that respectfully. This album is probably the little push Gaga needed to do what she used to do with Tony but alone and it's at the top of her discography. And if someone says they don't want Gaga to keep doing jazz or experimenting with less mainstream genres, it's just not realistic. The quality this album delivered is beyond most of her previous records

  8. I know this fanbase doesn’t like her jazz/nonstudio album projects generally but I still play Harlequin frequently and think it’s severely underappreciated. It’s a shame her vocals on this album didn’t get highlighted in the film, where she was obviously supposed to sing like a normal person rather than the world class vocalist Lady Gaga because the universe largely didn’t get to hear these gems. Gonna Build a Mountain is one of her best vocal performances ever, Folie A Deux is absolute perfection and completely different for her, The Joker is like a prelude to Perfect Celebrity in the best way, World On A String is like butter to my ears (no ear condoms required here ) , and Happy Mistake is a career highlight and one of her best ballads of all time. Truly amazing work

  9. People are still basing themselves on the 25 millions $ loss myth? I don't remember the details but it was debunked right away yet still spreading for months back then... Sad it's still a thing.

  10. I think it would be super smart to finally release that performance from last year for the 1 year anni not only to celebrate the project - which it totally deserves, it's really a fantastic body of work & super unique compared to the rest of her albums and far and away more interesting than anything any pop girl has put out in the last 5 years !!!! would be great to get the album to the front of everyone's minds for Best Traditional Pop Album it genuinely has such a great shot at getting (and winning imo) a Grammy nomination.

  12. Mediatraffic Die with a Smile - 177,000 (19,373,000) Die with a Smile is now #4 on the all-time chart, surpassing As It Was by Harry Styles. It'll likely surpass AIWFCIY next week for the #3 slot. - Thanks to Aston Martin from ATRL for the info.

  13. I mean with the Joker hate gone and the Grammy nominations being out on November, she could totally campaign a bit for Harlequin to grab Traditional Pop Album. It's a big contender in the category I could see her releasing that recorded live

  14. Interscope execs confirmed it wasn't truth at the time, i doubt ARTPOP lost money at all lmao

  15. No, if we’re talking about the general public, there was always the criticism that her music did not reflect her talent. In fact, Gaga’s dance pop was a primary reason, aside from her fashion, why people wrongly believed she was untalented in the early years.

  16. He’s so talented, it’s such a shame his music and style don’t reflect that.

  20. the most underrated gaga album, she worked so hard for the movie, she made this companion album with passion for the role, just to be paid dust... I hate how everything played out, she did so much for almost nothing in return. Hope this somehow helps get it more recognized and respected

  21. Five years ago, we had Pandemica’s only televised performance at the VMA’s. The standalone video was taken down but you can watch it here at 34:00 minutes in Gaga performed 911, Rain On Me (with Ari), and Stupid Love. Gaga also won the Tricon Award And she served various looks throughout the night Gaga won 5 Awards Total: Song of the Year: Rain On Me Collab of the Year: Rain On Me Best Cinematography: Rain On Me Artist of the Year Tricon Award

  22. The special finally coming? Apparently, Lady Gaga's team responsible for the artist's website is working on an update related to "Harlequin." Remembering that the album will celebrate its 1-year anniversary on the 27th of next month. 👀

  23. I think the ARTPOP campaign budget was $20M, so with the 2.3M sales from 2013 alone, it might have already paid that

  24. I swear the living legend that Lady Gaga is. Stabilizing over 95M monthly listeners 17 years into her career.

  25. I love this album so much, we got a fresh vibrant theme full of covers, and even 2 new original songs!! Folie à Deux is one of my favourites and notibly a step into her first original jazz song. Severely underrated by Monsters. I still listen to the album often. Good Morning, Get Happy & Smile definitely get me in a more positive mood. The fact we got Smile finally on streaming?!!!!! Also the fact the visuals have references to her past work? The two tapes of The Born This Way Ball & The Joanne World Tour?? And they're smashed?? LoveDrug & Perfect Celebrity lyrics?? Some of her best work and I really hope we see those performances one day. I know they're special and locked up Happy that it's been a year. Maybe time to rewatch the film soon

  26. In what world is it *not* a part of MAYHEM tho? Literally the exact same production team, themes and sound fit into the album perfectly…

  27. Someone made an edit using a pic of Gaga performing Perfect Celebrity at Coachella with the skeletons and added ARTPOP, Joanne, Chromatica and Harlequin on top of each skeleton as she didn't perform anything from those albums during the show... Then she commented that Harlequin has a special place in her heart or something like that. But apart from that you can clearly notice it's a special project for her. It was the first thing Michael and her worked together on and I'm sure both would take the opportunity to bring more attention to it or make it win something

  28. Folie à deux is actually one of her let’s say best top 20 songs. And the fact she wrote it all by herself

  32. the people who commented negatively about this album are mainly fans of other pop girls. every big artist has playlisting but it won't do much if people don't want to stream and Sabrina has huge fanbase, her last album sold over 100k on vinyl in the first week.

  34. how hard is it to understand that generative AI is harmful to the environment and takes away job opportunities from creatives? it's not that hard. and yes AI is just an excuse for lazy people to do something they can't do because for them hardwork = not rewarding. also if you're employed, you should know how ****ing ANNOYING the genAI epidemic is within the workforce. if you're a student, you'll understand the frustration against people who uses the tool to breeze their way through anything.

  35. Ain't no way this man is referring to either HIStory or Blood on the Dance Floor as a "flop" when they're the best selling two-disc album of all time and best selling remix album of all time respectively And his info on Invincible is so flawed Michael wasn't the only artist that was pissed off at Sony. A TON of their black artists felt shafted and were protesting the lack of promotion and resources given to their albums. Sony just had a special target on him 'cause he owned so much of the company's shares and basically had them over a barrel half the time as their biggest earner. And an Invincible Tour was planned but cancelled after 9/11, just like a lot of other artists cancelled their tours Not to mention the amount of meddling the label did during Invincible's production, forcing Michael to shelve songs like "Shout", "Hollywood Tonight", and "We've Had Enough" 'cause the themes were "too heavy". Instead, he had to put flowery love songs and was only really able to touch on the state of the world in "Cry" And despite being a """flop""" the album's gone platinum over a dozen times Mr. Ballz, fix your info

  37. No, Million Reasons is a masterpiece!! When the song starts, she starts opening the present/box and it doesn’t show what’s in it. It leaves you wondering about it until the bridge, and then it’s a huge emotional relief when she sees “love you sis”, it’s so wonderfully made that I had a mental breakdown the first time I watched that video. I mean, just look at the material: And the mirror scene turning black and white when the song starts? Just wow. This shot is also spectacular: Stupid Love is also amazing. The visual effects??? When she reaches out and makes the dancer fly, oh my god, the chills. Mind you, these effects were done as early as 2020, which makes it all even more breathtaking. She truly was ahead of her time with that video. And the energy? The choreo? Hello?! Abra wishes. You’re trying to be shady but you know nothing about ART.

  40. I’ve changed my mind on the song after listening to the snippets a few times. It feels very ARTPOP meets Mayhem vocally. And I still want a full disco album and I think this is the closest era we’ve had to a mostly Disco/Funk record. Kinda excited.

  41. This album and the movie remains one of her biggest mistakes. I hope everyone collectively moves on from this and forget about its existence.

  42. The Joker remains one of the most impressive studio vocals she’s ever delivered btw

  43. I'd love to see more of this mini-era. Harlequin is one of my favorite albums of all time! You can tell this project came from her heart and the pure joy of creating. Seeing Gaga experiment with music and use her vocals so majestically is always a sublime experience
    4 points
  44. Right. It’s so predictable at this point. A few weeks ago, her team “dropped the ball” by not scheduling her tour around the VMAs. So, of course, now that we know her “incompetent!!!” team did in fact account for the VMAs, we now have a host of new reasons to complain: the wrong song, wrong format (live vs prerecorded)… As someone who enjoys a nap after doing little more than walking my dog, I can’t imagine the mindset of any fan who sees TMBT and thinks “this lazy lady!” if she doesn’t get transported by helicopter between venues to do even more singing and dancing - live, no less - on that night.

  45. So maybe this was that recorded performance that someone mentioned days ago?
