Note: n/a indicates that the albums weren't included in the annual report after failing to make it into the top 10 best-selling albums cut-off of UMG. This however doesn't mean that they didn't sell at all during that year.

Reported worldwide sales of Gaga's albums based from the year-end charts of Media Traffic, a site run by chart enthusiasts which tracks sales based on the official charts around the world:

2009:

The Fame (Monster)- 5.9 million

2010:

The Fame (Monster)- 5.9 million

2011:

The Fame (Monster)- 1.5 million

Born This Way- 5.4 million

2012:

n/a

2013:

ARTPOP- 1.3 million

Note: n/a indicates that the albums weren't included in the year-end chart after failing to make it into the top 40 best-selling albums cut-off of Media Traffic. This however doesn't mean that they didn't sell at all during that year. For instance, based on the weekly charts of Media Traffic for 2012, the sales of Born This Way have amounted to 404k alone in the first 8 weeks of the tracking year. By the 9th week, BTW has sold less than 25k worldwide.

Seeing how every year the overall album sales for all artists is lowering...this is crazy :omg:

Poor ARTPOP...it deserves to have more.

Oh it definitely did.

But it's crazy how it was Universal Music Group's 4th best selling album of 2013 and the world's 9th best selling album of 2013 yet was still managed to be labelled a flop.

it's not that bad.

It will end up in like 2.8M. Hopefully one day can pass the 3M in sales

I'm still puzzled :deadbanana:

How much did The Fame and TFM sold if we take the Deluxe version of TFM as 2 albums, because it is really 2 albums?

Did they also sell TFM separately from TF, or was it mostly the deluxe edition?

ARTPOP was the 4th selling album of 2013???? ed2305b7.pngWhat a f*cking flop :rip:

It's just all sales decreased

And those "n/a" :smh: She was still selling her previous albums next years

Seriously, Gaga achieved that with one and a half singles and not one of them was #1. Compare her to Rihanna and the success of the singles from Unapologetic. If she were to sell as much as Gaga does, she would have topped 4 million with Unapologetic (in the respective year of release), yet the numbers are the same with ARTPOP.

Heck, even Katy Perry isn't better than Gaga in that aspect. Roar was twice as successful as Applause and she sold only 0.6 million more than Gaga, while her album was released earlier (on the back of a mega-successful era).

No shade towards Katy or Rihanna, love them both. It was just taken as a comparison since they're her peers.

There are absolutely no arguments that can classify Gaga as a flop. Period.
