Do you think DWUW could've smashed if the video was controversial?

Kinda like wrecking ball. DWUW is an amazing song and I think, from what I heard, the video is quite s-xual. And with R.Kelly....

Maybe that's why Gaga didn't release it? She said she was completely depressed by the end of 2013 and didn't want anymore criticism?

Anyways what do you think?

yep

Destiny is for losers. It’s just a stupid excuse to wait for things to happen instead of making them happen

Absolutely, yes. It was already pretty high just based on the song's power. The video would have pushed it and it would have been as big as Applause if not bigger

Kinda like wrecking ball.

I know a ton of people watched Wrecking Ball because 'Miley stripped'. Literally

I think she would have gotten a LOT of criticism since Miley was massive during its release, and it was MILEY who was doing all the outrageous, raunchy s-x stuff.

So to answer your question, MAYBE. She would have gotten a lot of backlash that's for sure.

Yes. The song is a smash. I've said countless times and I'll say it again: DWUW had so much potential that was murdered by the unfortunate circumstances between Gaga and her team.

I agree.  People would of said she's copying miley and it would result in a whole lot of backlash.  And DWUW did get a whole lot of promo and i don't think the video would of made that big of a difference in its chart performance.  Perhaps it would of become a top 10 hit, but that would be it.

And I think people would watch DWUW because "gaga got fingered by a guy that pees on teenagers" :rip: :rip:

No... I think the video was worse than WB and Gaga didn't want to go THAT extreme, so she realized it was too much and scrapped it. Remember her saying we weren't ready for the video if we thought SNL was questionable? Terry is a perv and so is R. Kelly and I think both went too far with the visuals and concept! She didn't want to seem like a try hard and be an attention seeker. She was trying to make the music stand out and it ended up being a s-x/p0rn sells kinda vid

I don't know about smash, but it would've done better. It definitely would've given it a much higher peak due to streams.

Not totally convinced by the whole "the video would have saved it all" idea. Like.... has the G.U.Y. video really served the song that well on the charts? I'll let you judge by yourselves.

With a video alone it would have hit top 10, with a controversial video it could have hit to 5.
