How did Aura leak?

Most leaks are marketing stunts. Tech companies do controlled leaks to make people excited about their new products, and persuade people to hold off on buying a competitors product. The same with music. Gaga hadn't released new music in a while, and a "normal" release would be boring. What is more exciting than a "Pop Music Emergency" with radios, social networking, etc. having a freak out. It gets attention and it gets people excited/curious. While Applause is debatable whether it was a hacking or a controlled leak, I think it is probably (somewhat) controlled.

Aura leaked, likely, because it was used in Machete Kills. They needed it to make the trailer, so she sent the version she had at the time, and someone at that company leaked it. It too could have been controlled, kind of like "here is this new material, I'm turning the other way...".

ARTPOP was a ways away, and no one had heard from Gaga. She was still recovering and preparing, and couldn't promote it herself, so a leaked song did the work for her. It made people curious and excited for the new album. Brooklyn Nights was one that people were excited for, but didn't make the cut. It could be like Aura, and be "leaked" in rough form to strike up interest in the next release, or it could be indicative of its further absence on the next album. Kind of an "apology" for not putting it out (yet).

All it boils down to is business. There are safe ways to store music without a leak. Sometimes stuff is left vulnerable to see if someone gets it, and if it leaks it strikes up interest in that person. Aura did it before ARTPOP, and Applause was a good way to strike interest in the single before its release. Typical promo on iTunes/Twitter isn't enough, but when a radio station as a "pop music emergency exclusive early first play" of a new song, it gets much more attention. It's on the internet, the radio, social networking, etc. Don't be naive to the business. As much as Gaga says the charts don't matter, they do, because she has to sell her creations to fund her creativity.

Antidote

Someone played it randomly in tinychat I think.

The Radio ARTPOP people were very surprised by it as well, there's also a video of them hearing it, saw it back then here on GGD :)

I believe there was a user called Boris here on GGD who posted it or confirmed it,GGD tried to contact him/her but it didn't work out.

In the end it's just pretty much clear that Gags leaked it

Best day ever tbh

Blade

ARTPOP was officially announced in July therefore the ARTPOP campaign began in JULY.

People on this website say that Born This Way started in August 2010 when she sang some of the song when she won Video of the Year at the VMAs that year, yet ARTPOP started when the lead single dropped?

I was thinking it was July 12th, because my birthday is July 16th and I know it was the week of my birthday lol. We're birthday buddies :legend: Either way it was still July at that party where she wore the silver spacey outfit and the Born This Way SkeletonGa cake thing was there.

I'm a guy, thanks!
