4 was more successful than ARTPOP (or maybe it's just that 2014 is not 2011 which means at the very least, they are equal floppages) But you are forgeting that Beyonce had her pregnancy surprise + Superbowl 2 years later ...

Not really tho, she doesn't have enough writing credits etc..   3M copies WW is nothing, Beyonce probably earned 5M from that :rip:

Remember Adele's 15M copies WW gave ha only 25M and she wrote all her songs ..

Indeed, my father writes books (usually with one other person). From the €47 one of his books cost, he got only €1.

and every girl on Earth. :dies:

Women don't identify as tops or bottoms. Their whole identity as a s-xual partner isn't tied up around these terms or around a  s-xual position.

Being "under a guy" is not a connotation that many women find unappealing and it can be downright insulting. The whole submissive angle isn't really appealing for many females, especially when you are tying it into a s-xual theme.

I remember lady gaga in 2009 would be promo every single day.... every day she'd go to a radio station, every week she would either be on TV performing or headlining a gig..... she literally promo'd the **** out of JD/PF/PAPP .. she started doing that a lil bit with G.U.Y. around the time the video came out.. but then stopped..

she should have performed at the MTV movie awards.. should have performed at iheartradio awards.. etc

Single sales aren't the most profitable :toofunny:

Most profitable:

1. Touring

2. Products (perfumes, merch)

3. Deals (like Bey's H&M deal, Gaga's Versace deal)

4. Albums (not sure, but I think digital albums are more profitable?)

5. Singles

All are connected. I dont know if Interscope will make half the money they made 2 years ago with Gaga. Thats not good.

The irony is everyone else IS Interscope's focus :awkney:

It's obvious that Interscopes top 5 artists are:

1. Madonna

2. Lady Gaga

3. Eminem

4. Lana del Rey

5. Kendrick Lamar or Zedd

There should be enough that find it interesting and a lot more that dont even care what the song is about.

Imagine Dragons has a HUGE rock following though, bigger than Kendrick and even Zedd :awkney:

Madonna is queen of touring as well as consistent sales, so I agree.

Gaga/Eminem is questionable right now

Lana is probably #5 if anything, until they build up her fanbase like they're hoping to

Not you thinking that artists can't negotiate and legal renewals of contracts are annual

A contract is a contract. A record contract is not up for annual renegotiation, not for JT, Beyonce, Gaga, Adele or anybody. Labels would lose money, if they were.

Unless Adele wants to sue her label to get out her current contract, she is stuck with the terms of the contract she currently is signed to. There is a reason they are called contracts and reasons labels have them!

True. And I also doubt that. It indeed isn't good, but didn't the same happen to Madonna and Eminem comparing their last eras with the era before?

Lana has a big, big fanbase. Don't underestimate hipsters. She has this 'cool' and 'indie' factor, that makes people want to buy Lana shirts rather than Gaga or Madonna shirts. I actually think her fanbase is about as big as Katy's.

There are plenty of clauses and loopholes within the industry to get out of one, don't worry ;)

Adele alone can fight for the licensing agreement of her content legally and win, thereby terminating the contract and resulting in a loss for the record label. :ohwell:

Her fanbase is not as big as Katy's :toofunny:

She is the current tumblr sensation (along with Marina and The Diamonds), but the success isn't translating as well as Marina (who has had several Top 20 hits in the UK ironically, as well as a #1 album)

Watch Marina this album run, it's going to be intense and actually may be her American breakthrough and spawn more hits than Lana :ohwell:

Could be, but Lana isn't this normal girl. She sells albums and tour tickets. And next to that, the biggest part of her success is in Europe :ohwell: all gays here are Lana stans :toofunny:
