Birthday (one week ago) 11.212.008  #62 iTunes and almosr 50M Al

Yeah, this is hardly happening...

This just shows that even Katy Perry isn't the queen of singles anymore ( Roar = lead single, Dark Horse = a song that was meant to be a hit right from the start......  Uncle and Birthday on the other hand...)

You need to build momentum and hype anyways, so artists just keep trying until they have more hype so they can release the album and have more momentum.

Honestly this. Gaga should adopt the methods of Asian artists who release 3-4 pre-album singles, actually most of the time the singles are ONLY pre-album. It makes people buy the album after buying the singles and promotes the album better. And generally pre-album singles are the ones with inflated radio play and higher sales.

Birthday may become a MTN sized hit. Hoping for that, because it would show to her label, other labels and radio that NOT everything by Katy Perry smashes, and that something as generic as possible does NOT guarantee a hit at all.

Asian artists? Talking about Japanese or South Korean or both? Because they're two REALLY different markets. Albums don't sell in South Korea, it's a fanbase-oriented market where singles play a huge role.

I honestly think that it would kill a lot of the hype tbh, but it'd be interesting if Gaga did the opposite of Beyoncé. It didn't work at all for Justin Bieber, though.. but he did it in a different way.

Even if Marry the Night was not THAT popular, mostly everyone knows it's a Gaga song tbh.

Birthday will be a hit I'm sure, but that video definitely hurt her chances of another #1.
