XoXoJoanneGaga 629
So the people who understand and appreciate her talent the most consider it a great album, and that is a bad thing... Not really. So you would have her censor her true impulses for in favor of songs that will be more palatable for the masses? Am I understand you correctly? She can make whatever music she likes, but she won't be big again unless she makes songs that are big, catchy and appealing to more than just her fanbase. I've followed the reception to ARTPOP outside of her fanbase and the vast majority of critics and casual fans think it's her worst album, that's all. And no of course her career won't end but she'll become more niche with each passing year

It's more important to me, and apparently her as well, that she wants to continue being daring. And as for the reaction from the GP... the media is very influential in that it can convince people that an album, film, etc, is a creative failure when that might not be the case, and they might not have even experienced it for themselves. I can't tell you how many times I've talked to someone who claimed they hated ARTPOP, and when I asked them further about why, it became obvious that they hadn't even heard it. Anyway, time and perspective has a way of being very kind to projects like ARTPOP.
Creyk 17,857
And what attitude is that? The "I'm an artist so I'm too cool to make music which can chart well. I could do another PF or JD but I choose not to. Money not the bling" attitude
Mills 446
Rise in terms of topping the charts once again like she used to during 2009 until early 2011? Probably - like almost every other major solo artist who suffered a sales downturn after a massive debut. But, if we've to look on the indicators we've right now, it won't likely be from this current album. Interest isn't as strong these days. It has to be re-built again. judaslover 0
Yaaas! Wait for Onion Girl, it could be G.U.Y. 2.0. She probably saved some really good songs for Act 2 / Next Album.
Allison M 357
if this is one of Gaga's "dips" or low points, it;s a pretty good "low point" imo. The girl is selling shows like crazy.

I've seen people say a film is a bad or an album is bad, but like you said they can't even give an explanation way. I applaud the people that do listen to something before judging instead of just following the crowd. I'm not saying that is exactly the problem with Gaga' s album, but you do see that a lot and really amongst a younger crowd.

giskardsb 12,565
She never fell in my mind, I don't care what others think. She is light years ahead of standard issue pop stars the last thing I want is for her to act like one of them and try to be successful simply to be sucessful. elsongalang 8
She is the boundary of art + music. And all those other artists are inside it., She works hard to push it beyond the known limits.
