It's not shocking if you kn ow music history, For example, sales of Kylie's first 2 albums in UK 1988-91.

Kylie 2,110,000

Enjoy Yourself 1,075,000

Rhythm of Love 265,000

Let's Get To It 70,000

Britney's 4th album peaked at #13 in UK in 2003.

Yet it and Kylie Rhythm of Love are generally regarded as the best of their early albums.

There are booms and busts in girl pop and dance pop popularity.

Rihanna fans should prepare for her to struggle more next era too.

but isn't rihanna at her 8th album release this year

Everything in this era is crumbling like a chain because there is no new single to support it. We just need a hit single. If Gaga wants to save that era commercialy she must fight for that hit. It is not that difficult at all if she makes a productive try.

I'm just afraid that GUY was maybe wrong single choice

She did like 10 interviews last week tho :awkney: and Bobby even put ARTPOP with a banner and under 'new releases' which is RARE for a 6 month-old album :awkney:

Rihanna's first 2 albums made little impact.

Then she put out an album yearly during the female pop boom of 2007-11 GGGB and Loud were her peaks.

Her last UK debut dropped off from 160 to 99k and things have got tougher for female pop since.

no even with a discount everywhere, less than 6 000.

Still a rise in sales

It's normally falling 10-30% every week, so a similar rise due to GUY taking off won't change anything.

We need a bigger rise, and that's only possible by GUY becoming a legit hit, not a DWUW-sized one, in order to be able to sell the album

What about Miley? Adore You flopped hard, and Wrecking Ball got released in September. Yet Adore You (and the tour!) helped the album sell 10~20k in the US for quite a few weeks and she's still in the Top 50. Gaga's way more global, she should be able to do the same in the US and even better WW. GUY doesn't even need to become a big hit, a DWUW-sized hit is okay - and anyways, if this were to get the same amount of airplay as DWUW, it would get MUCH more sales because it has a video, it doesn't have R. Kelly in it and because the song slays :legend:

But female pop still dominates in the UK, see Ellie Goulding  the UK market is so different. I honestly think that it's going to change so much in the future, pre-orders won't be as common because streaming will be much more important for example..

ARTPOP won't be in the top 40 of mediatraffic for sure... not in the top 100 in the UK not in the top 50 in the US...

I don't say that about the album, its doing fine considerng that it was out of top 300 on iTunes the previous week, it needs a single to sell it, banners can't sell it forever. The interviews are not that effective at all. As I said she is doing promo but not "real" promo. Maybe these interviews will help on radio though so this is why I said that the next two weeks will reveal the truth.
