Queen 99
Do you think Gaga should have kept her distance from the fans (while still respecting them) and created music based on what SHE wanted and not the little monsters? I thought it was cute at first until she started catering to the fans. I want her to create what SHE wants, not what a million 12 year olds are screaming at her over twitter. doveve 526
I respect her for having a close and warm relationship with her fans, but it's not ok.
Weasel 12,525
What's so bad about listening to your fans though, I don't really get it?
chrismugler 944
It's a clever idea, one of her best 'till date. After she incorporated the fans into her world she became an icon as well us, the Little Monsters. WE ARE ICONIC B.B.A. / Music Lover / Human. Mr Josh 3
If she didn't create it at least we wouldn't have stupid fanbase names like KatyCats Bielebers and Mahomies.
Golden Gangsta 49
Not a bad idea at all.
Ladey Gagz 2,512
Yes she wouldn't be where she's at today without having this kind of relationship with her fans We're like the most iconic fanbase out there tbh If she didn't create it at least we wouldn't have stupid fanbase names like KatyCats Bielebers and Mahomies. THIS I think Katy Cats is cute though
teo 609
No. And maybe she likes it that way? It's one of the things that makes her special.
Miel 15,009
I don't mind the formation of a general community, but I'm not a fan of the twitter LM community, if that's something. I mean, I don't want to say no- I really appreciate the album Born This Way, and a lot of that was created with the intention of the fans (along with her own emotional catharsis, or something). However, I do think sometimes interactions between the community and her are a bit... messianic? Is that the right word? 3 points in and ready for more
Bellatrix 34,775
I don't think it was a bad idea. She still creates what she wants. She's not the type who releases something she doesn't want. Remember that she rejected TGT :( Lose control. Let go and fall. Do you get the satisfaction?
Addy Ezzie 2
It wasn't a bad idea imo. I like the fact that she's close to her fans. She's a great person. BUT I gotta admit that the relationship with her fans is a bit weird sometimes, but some fans are really really "extreme". I would never stalk her and follow her everywhere she goes and be everywhere she is before anyone else knows it. It's a bit creepy but if Gaga's alright with that, then fine. I don't think Little Monsters have ever influenced Gaga's music - I can be wrong though -. She does what she wants, her music reflects herself, not her fans. msquare91 1
Glad I'm not the only one who feels the same way. It was a totally brill marketing move, but I feel it's partly to blame for leading her down the path she prophesied in the Fame Monster (which is, coincidentally, when she first coined the term). Messianic is probably the best word for what I'm getting at! Doing something not only for yourself, but for a force larger than yourself, is a great motivator, but it's also a slippery slope toward self-importance, and that same self-importance among celebrities is what she once railed against. She's got a good head on her shoulders and is much more humble about it than most people would be if placed in the same situation, but you can't deny that it's all affected her ego at least a little bit. It can also be really stifling for your creativity when you know that you have to meet certain expectations from other people, and the pressure can squash one's wilder, uninhibited intuition, which is where the sweet spot is. Sometimes the best thing is to work on something as if no one is ever going to see it, to allow yourself to fail and go to somewhere you wouldn't have expected.
