Runway 27,876
Well it is true… We all sound delusional if you are saying ARTPOP did good 4th best selling album of 2013 :toofunny:
gagavsartpop 0
4th best selling album of 2013 4th not 2nd or 1st
Runway 27,876
Honestly, while I am skeptical of those numbers, I do think Interscope did suffer some loss with her album. The tour is helping make up for it at least. I wouldn't be surprised if they clamp down a bit more on her album production budget, or perhaps give her less of a time frame to wrack up a large bill. If she is losing them any money at all, she isn't doing the job they hired her for. This is a business standpoint, please understand that. Hopefully she manages to make a lot with the tour and merchandise, which this era has really been lacking unfortunately. I would have loved some ARTPOP tshirts and posters. :( no interscope did not suffer any loss of money::toofunny:
DonatellaV 0
"Lady Gaga’s “ARTPOP†album last fall certainly didn’t give Universal Music Group any pop." "ARTPOP" <- right there you know they have no idea what they're talking about.
That J 12,166
This article infuriated me because if you read it in full and understand what it's saying, the headline is blatantly false! It's shocking actually that whomever wrote the article was able to get away with that headline! In a nutshell, the article is giving out percentages of sales and moneys, grosses and losses of Universal Music Group over a period of time. Lady Gaga's album is not the only one mentioned plus UMG nor Interscope is going to fall to an alarming rate off one release. The only time I've seen anything near $25mil put towards one album, would be Sony with Michael Jackson. For one, they are not giving Lady Gaga Michael Jackson money nor are they ever expecting the results from her albums that he could pull back in the day day. Nobody was waiting for ARTPOP to make or break Universal Music Group. So to add fuel to an already blazing fire, they lump ONE albums sales into a headline?!?! It's absurd. It's untrue. Don't even listen to it. The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver Of The Screw
Pure Adrenaline 1,518
yeah and that's why she paid 2mil. from herself for the artRave on 10th Nov. so stupid no label will put 25M dollars for album promotion even if the album was made from Jesus, even BTW promotion campaing didn't cost that much It's much more fun to have hizophrenia... u never get lonely
Runway 27,876
4th not 2nd or 1st Still 4th is far from a real flop A real flop would be WW sales under 1 million and a cancelled tour due to lack of demand but clearly none of that happened now begone
That J 12,166
Ill also add, I'd be pressed if the headline was about ANY album that sold well and was falsely called out....even if I wasn't a fan. It's just untrue. The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver Of The Screw

To blaim Gaga for a loss when the whole album industry is on a slippery slope is just close to a personal vendetta.

Luc 4,775
THIS…. Considering that artists like Gaga get about 50% of their total album sales in the first 2 weeks of the release, ARTPOP needed to sell close to 1 millions copies in the first week to break even with these costs (no profit at all). No record label head in his entire mind would pay 25 m for promotion. That's not true though. Even One Direction, whose sole demographic is their fanbase, sell like 30-40% of their total in the first 2 weeks. But indeed, 25M is a little bit too much for an album with only 1 video 4th best selling album of 2013 Not true. Fourth most shipments for an album by an artist signed to Universal.
