200k dollars to never listen to Gaga again

Gaga has become an addiction for some of you it seems. She's like your crack. You're under this fake notion that 'you need her'.

Ha. You are under a fake notion that $200k given to 1 person will change the world.

Lady Gaga, has changed the world.

I joined the forum cause i'm very opinionated. I opened the thread cause I wanted to see the answers. I'm not going to agree with things I don't believe in. I'm just saying if you guys look back 10 years from now unless ya'll are rich you'd kill yourselves for not taking the offer..

i'm not suggesting you agree with things you don't agree with. i'm suggesting that you perhaps be a bit more receptive and a little less pretentious. and, to be perfectly honest, this rationale sounds like the type that would be used to encourage someone to 'sell out'.

"you're gonna regret not taking this offer to make a bunch of **** you don't believe in if you're not rich in 10 years by following your compass"

It wouldn't change the world but to stop listening to 1 artists music it's infinitely more than enough tbh.

I was going to make this thread 10k at first because I thought it was such an obvious answer.

dude, it's so presumptuous to assume that everyone is going to agree with you. stop being so pompous.

That's a very bad a--logy. It's a different experience for the artist and the listener. The listener has a million other options.

I think if you guys listen to more albums a year you wouldn't be so hesitant with your answers..

I just don't understand why we live in a world where people have to equate things of emotional significance to them to some type of monetary amount. This type of thinking is one of the reasons why we not only live in a world that is so corrupt, but also a world that is filled with so many people that are unhappy. People are spending too much time thinking about money and not enough time thinking about what they love or what makes them happy. Money has made us slaves.

Money is the root of all evil, 100%

I can start a new topic about how awful it is and how corrupt our society is, I agree again.

However 200k is still more than enough to stop listening to 1 artists music.

You need money to get ahead in this world, you think Gaga trying to break into the industry would say no to 200k and she had to stop listening to Madonna? She would do in a heartbeat, it would allow more opportunities to open for her so she can get her ideas out into the world.

You have to be selfish in the world, your opinions are greater than everyone else's, you only lead 1 life. Allow everyone else to find their own ways.

I disagree because i'm talking about the principal of what you're suggesting. The artist also has millions of options to make millions of different types of music.

At any rate, just because I'm fighting on behalf of the people who don't wish to accept your bull**** offer, it's (again) very presumptuous of you to assume that I don't listen to a lot of music. My music taste is incredibly eclectic. In 2013 alone, I've probably listened to upwards of 100 different albums of NUMEROUS different genres.

If you want your argument to have any validity, you need to stop making assumptions about the people you're talking to.

Fair enough. But, to be fair, 200k ain't **** to Gaga. I guess I'm just saying that I think it's everyone's prerogative to prioritize as they choose and if money isn't at the top of their list, that doesn't make them stupid.

but, kudos on being socratic and prodding people.

To stop listening to 1 artists music, it kinda is tbh lol

That is my opinion though.

and there you have it. I just don't think you could ever discredit how much inspiration one person might give to another. I think you need to realize that, to a lot of people, Gaga is more than just a musician: she is a visual artist, a fashion icon, a social activist and an innovator. She keeps things exciting on so many levels. There are certainly artists you might be able to pay me to never listen to again, but, just because of Gaga's tremendous overflow of creativity, I just think it'd be difficult for me to block her out, I don't know.

just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't mean they're not "thinking it through properly"

music means a lot to people and Gaga has had a tremendous impact on a lot of her fans (myself included) and changed some of their lives. I think by saying that they're not thinking it through properly because you want them to give up someone or something that is a huge inspiration to them means that you don't understand the true value of inspiration or art.

honestly, dude, life is all about what brings you joy. if gaga's music brings you joy, who are you to say that they're making the wrong choice because they don't want the 200k?

Who am I, but a human being who thinks for himself just like you. I know money isn't everything. I am far from a miser or a materialistic person. However, I just find it remarkable the power of music, how it creates a bond in the hearts of those who invested so much emotional energy that goes beyond their personal interests. I'm a huge fan, make no mistake. Won't give her up so easily, but damn, the money would help financial woes. So for some, a decision like that isn't made so lightly.

I'm not saying it's wrong, it's just a different perspective on how others prioritize their values. No right and wrong about it.

Stand in the light, cast your shadow.

Totally valid. The majority of that comment was directed at SkyHigh. Necessity is necessity and everyone is coming from different places. You do have to prioritize accordingly. Just didn't think there was any reason to try to make someone feel dumb for not choosing the cash (again, not directed at you).

:runhug:  hope all is well, bby!

You could do whatever you want to do, buy whatever you want to buy, help whoever you want to help

But you choose to put in your headphones and listen to Born This Way..

:rip: You'd have to pick and choose with 200,000 tbh...

Also there's something very unique about Gaga's music. Maybe you don't see that but to some of us it can't be replaced with other stuff.

Not to mention, it's not a very obvious choice like you're making it seem. A lot of people have a deep connection with music. And some people are against sellouts. It's a bit pretentious to make a thread expecting an answer and when the overwhelming response opposes you you act like we're wrong or something.

Also like I said, $200,000 isn't gonna do much for the world.
