I watched the Bad Romance video on youtube and was entranced. Then I started watching more of her videos...and then her awards performances, live performances, radio performances...it basically started to spiral out of control then hahaha. My friends wouldn't talk to me the next day I would only talk about her

I do miss her fierce attitude, but sometimes it reveals Itself. I felt her Jingle Ball last year was a throw back to that. She can still come across free b---h when she wants...

The JBB was amazing tbh, it was like a TMB sequel

Well, the first time I heard about "Lady Gaga", I was pretty amused by the name but did not bother looking up her music or performances. Shortly before Poker Face was released (it was still during the "Just Dance" era), I clicked on a link, because some user on a random forum said Gaga had amazing live vocals. The link led me to a video of Gagas "So You Think You Can Dance" performance. I was, literally, blown away by her. The song, the vocals, the visuals... all these things coming together pretty much made me a "casual fan" instantly. This means I liked her, but was not a real follower.

After "The Fame" was released, I listened to the album and my first reaction was "OK, everything besides "Just Dance" is sh*t. I won't buy this." But I kept hearing from others how good the album is and I gave it a second chance and listened to all the songs a few times. I noticed that the sound was fresh, fun and catchy, so I bought "The Fame" and became a fan, meaning I was always looking up new music from her (including unreleased songs). At this point I looked up more and more information about her: Where does she come from, how did she get famous? And most important: What kind of human being is she? When it comes to performers I follow, I NEED to know more about what they want to achieve and how they treat other people. During my researchs I was more and more drawn into her amazing person and her social commitment.

I became a real follower (or little monster) during the time between "The Fame Monster" and "Born This Way", because her message of freedom and equality is exactly what I try to achieve in my life. I am a loyal follower, I love her music and I highly respect and applaud her efforts for making the world a better place. And even if I disagree with her sometimes doesn't mean I don't like her anymore. Disagreements are part of every kind of relationship, even in a "fan and popstar" relationship. It also makes me overthink my views and question them, which is an important progress.

ARTPOP did not change anything for me, the aspect of creativity through the art she is making became even stronger. And my fear that she'd drop the equality talk did not come true, she still stands for freedom and kindness, which made me respect her even more. It was not just a scheme for the BTW campaign, but it is what she truly wants.

To sum it up:

Her music, visuals and talent sparked my interest.

Her creative work and her social commitment made me a real fan.

Her Born This Way campaign made me a loyal follower or little monster (whatever you want to call it).

ARTPOP made me admire her even more for her creative efforts, the music and her support of Online Kindness.

I've come to realize that Gaga is just one of those artists you have to digest for a bit to get into. She is so polarizing in her presentation, you are forced to either like it or hate it because she is so loud, relentless, and puts those catchy hooks that bring you closer and closer to her figurative bed as she used to put it. It was like she seduces a mind once it dares to give her lotus leaves another taste. I'm sure other pop artists can do this, but since most of them play it safe, it is usually easier to causally like them. With her though, her lyrics are so demanding almost as if she were the guy singing about chicks, like a woman on top but willing to loosen the leash at her beckon or call. What confidence...

And her message, her developing mantra in her shows made her more personable somehow, like she was talking to YOU. Even at recorded events, she looks straight into the camera, into the viewer's eyes.

She was like this conflicting mix of reckless freedom and carelessness and hippie like love that accepts anyone and everyone, preaching equality, kindness and etc, though might be annoying, does create this welcoming aura about her. Even though we are mere fans, we feel we can talk to her frankly, openly, and at times, it is as if she speaks to us back in her music and words. It's magical, though in an entertainment setting.

Do your own research.

Donatello

After hearing Just Dance on radio circa 2008, the bridge slayed my soul and I was compelled to see the bridge performed live. So I youtubed 'Just Dance live' and saw the performance - it blew me away, this was the first time I saw what GaGa looked like. The choreo, visuals, everything just seemed "crazy" but a good crazy that mirrored my own turmoil inside whilst being in 8th grade. I felt like I could live my inner whackiness through her. I started following her career shortly after I saw FB intro (but not in FB) and I felt like it was something truly revolutionary, even though I couldn't understand a word of it, I just had this feeling. Then TF came out and I was addicted to every song.

Hearing Paparazzi and watching the V Festival performance of it on youtube utterly slayed me at the time, and made me into a fan. And then Bad Romance, and TFM, took it to a whole other level.

I saw alot of myself in Lady Gaga during The Fame Monster and everyone here in my town and especially those who know me well, would agree. If only I could sing, that could have been me. That was when I most instantly clicked with Gaga.

Throughout the rest of her career, I just feel like a sort of kinship has happened and that I will always want to support her, she's alot like me trying out The Fame, except that she has major talent. I could just be her mime or impersonator. Her spirit Sister!

I do approve of her styles and messages that she honours with her fame as well, so even in humility, we are somewhat alike. I just do not think that I would put my humanitarian views into my act.

I admire Gaga so much and see how much she has grown and am as proud as if it had happened to myself.

I am actually still kinda left behind in The Fame Monster era, unmoving!

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

Phoenix

Well I liked her when Just Dance came out. She had me at Poker Face and my love just kept growing. At Bad Romance she litterally owned me to the rest of her life.

My story is kind of extremely ironic. I was working on the waffle fry fryer at Chick-Fil-A and we had this tiny radio on top of it so the cooks could hear music. Just Dance came on and I've been hooked since.

I love this! It's so interesting how you can discover something OR how something can discover you in the most unlikely of places and times. ;). Paws MOFO UP!!

She is a definition of a real pop star for me, others are all basic to me. Only Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Cher and Lady Gaga have "that something" for me when I see them on stage, you know how they change looks, controversies and reinvent themselves with every era (I wish Gwen continued with her solo career :(

I know.....I was 16 and pretty dumb. I actually quit working there when I came out at 17 because the manager was extremely homophobic. When they had the "Anti-Chick-Fil-A" Day a year later I went to THAT Chick-Fil-A and held up a sign in drag saying "Jesus had two dads and he turned out okay." And the manager came out and told me I was going to go to hell. I literally said "Ill be dancing in the flames tonight!" lol. crazy ****

I have actually heard that Gwen might be working on music right now. I also should suggest that if you like Gwen, Madge, Cher, and Gaga we shouldn't count out Christina (who has changed her looks), Janet (who lets be honest changed her looks too), and now Lorde who is definitely an odd ball in the same right at Gwen, Madge, Gaga, and Cher. I'm REALLY stoked to see if Lorde will continue to develop her look/style as her music evolves.
