This is my first major meltdown but I feel I am entitled to it! Seriously!?!? ... All of this was fixed so that Miley could dry hump Robin and stick her tongue and no-existent ass all over the place? Although this is not proven, I see no reason for MTV to do this ... And then to top it all off even the fans dragged Gaga's performance and at the end of the day it was never as originally planned?? Goes to show that we should trust Gaga more, people really haven't been here for her this era nor her vision. I am seriously pissed right now ... I definitely would have preferred this to the half baked performance we got. Hopefully she uses some of these elements for the tour. Though I feel like this performance would pair better with something like the Viceroy remix rather than the original version of Applause. Also enough of hating on Miley, she had nothing to do with this, it just makes y'all look petty (especially calling her a "slut" ). I'm not her biggest fan, but this is unwarranted. Lady Gaga's original idea seems incredibly amazing and epic, but it seems like it would probably be seen as slightly disturbing to someone, and perhaps even offensive with the inclusion of blood. Twerking vs Bloodiness and Disturbingness..we all know which one is less offensive, and more appropriate for an awards show. And while they let Gaga go with her original performance in 2009, they may have received some complaints, or someone in the inside just may have deemed it way to shocking, etc. This is incredibly publicized awards show, and it seems Gaga's ideas finally reached it's limits. There's no hate towards Gaga, and no pitting between the two. If they really want to sabotage Gaga they wouldn't have allowed her to perform in the first place, so then she wouldn't be able to generate ANY publicity or real promotion for Applause and ARTPOP. So stop with this stupid and completely unnecessary pitting against musicians and everyone's out to get Gaga. This simply is not true. The only person/entity in the entertainment industry that seems to want it out for Gaga is Perez Hilton, and Gaga already addressed him. While, I hate that MTV didn't allow the performance, I completely understand...it's on the level of performance art, in the intensity of it's shock value.IT reminds me of the crazy performance Leigh Bowery did at Woodstock... However, it must be noted, I doubt this was the performance Gaga said she was training for all along. They probably rejected her idea quite early, most likely within a month or two of receiving it... Gaga would be preparing for any performance for months after she broke her hip. Gaga probably had set pieces designed quite early before even handing in the treatment. NOPE. You are wrong for a number of reasons. 1. They could have just rejected the projection segment, which could have easily been ammended with something else.] 2. I don't think something this over the top would have been the best way to get her back into the public. Even if this was performed, let's be real, Miley still would have owned the night, because it's Miley. Ew. I truly honestly believe Miley has nothing special to offer at all. She's been a star for years. That was her version of the Paparazzi performance- cemented her in place. I didn't really care for it, but it made history. Gaga's simple performance was nice, I think it was helpful for Applause's longevity. Yeah, this is also very true. They have a budget, time frame, etc. If Gaga really wanted it, she could have offered to pay for quite a lot of it herself. Especially an artist who was fairly gone from the pubic eye and was recovering from hip surgery. It was a big risk for MTV. I hate the title of this thread. Her RIGHT to perform? lol They invited her. It was not her right. Clearly a Miley stan >.> Miley's performance a social commentary?? She did anything she could do (which is not much) for headlines. There was no commentary on anything, and paired with Robin Thicke, I think the idea that she was trying to depict something more subtle has gone out the window.
