It came from the heart of the true artist. Every note, syllable, instrumental was chosen specifically to represent what being Born This Way means to Gaga. Yes some of it is rough, but that's what makes it real and alive. It's just raw Pop music delivered straight from Gaga's soul. THAT is why BTW is an amazing album. When you really get into it, and start to hear the symbolism behind not just the words, but also the SOUND, on BTW, that's when you really see the masterpiece. It's a testament to how real dance/pop music today can actually be and it elevates the genre. I've always thought it was beautifully brilliant.
