At this point we don't even know what the song is about. It could be about religious freedom, it could be about hiding/protecting yourself or it could be about Jakarta. The word burqa isn't offensive, I don't understand why there would be an outcry. Well.. because it's a burqa. To the world - it's a symbol of culture; but it's now also a symbol of conflict and misunderstanding. Because it ties in with religion as well - a song by GAGA about it is going to warrant lots of controversy even before it's actually released. I know there's nothing offensive with using the word burqa or even releasing a song about it. So long as the song respects the culture and doesn't convey an offensive message. The world/media/ignorant people don't understand that though. That, plus Gaga. She has a lot of haters because she's so full on/different. People can't handle her. She could wave at her fans and some people would have an issue with it. We'll wait and see. Im excited. Tbh.. why would you write a song about a burqa though? Me myself living in a so-called muslim country is aware of that. Wearing burqa is not an issue. It has a decent chance of happening but like the post a bit above said, its gaga and there is still a ways to go before the album is released. I know it is the wrong way around, but I was actually thinking volume one could be called "Pop" because it is her commercial one. The second volume could be called "Art" because it is the experimental one. Obviously together it is ARTPOP. Personally i would prefer a LP + EP because in this way the whole era is more cohesive. The first disc ART wIth 7 songs could feature the experimental music while POP with 7 songs could feature the commercial music. 14 songs, 3 singles from each (unless the first single from the experimental disc isn't very successful then 4 or 5 from commercial and 1 or 2 from experimental). Then I think Gaga could have a special edition of the album on one disc called ARTPOP and a second disc with 4-5 songs, 2 experimental songs and 2-3 commercial songs.
