dc1993 1
Honestly I think the year-long gap between the end of BTW era and the ARTPOP record being released will do her a world of good in the long-run. ARTPOP = Bionic 2.0 Because it was ahead of its time. And it's the talent that matters. Bionic being "ahead of it's time" is the worst excuse I've ever heard. It wasn't ahead of it's time at all, it was simply bad.

DIVA 666
I just think right now we are somewhat being kept in the dark about everything, and Gaga probably has a good reason for it, but I would like to maybe be a little more engaged. Releasing concepts for Little Monsters to give their opinions on, releasing unreleased songs from the past, talking about the inspiration for ARTPOP, what the era will fundamentally be like. Gaga could talk about where she's been musically and where she plans on going in the future. More monstervisions. Her asking monsters for ideas for the new App is a good start, but I feel that with the LittleMonsters.com platform she has, the Haus could be doing more to bot engage fans and bounce ideas off of them. I think Little Monsters have great ideas, that if given a chance to come to fruition, could be both innovative and appealing to the general public. We're all Stronger Together! Bionic is two years old, and it certainly isn't ageing well imo
garnite 8
The Dreaming actually sold considerably well, it just didn't have the big singles that everyone remembers her other albums for. it's well known as a critical and commercial blip in her career (although probably my favourite of hers) that she pulled back from with hounds of love, but nowadays it's regularly cited as amongst her best works. you can only call something ahead of its time when it's hailed in the future. that's what i conceded with you, that no one likes bionic because it just isn't good and calling it ahead of its time is woo woo. Having a Kate Bush discussion on a Gaga forum, ermaherd ;) Kate herself actually said in recent (2011) interviews for Director's Cut/50Words that Dreaming is remembered as the "weird" album that didn't do so well, purely because of it's lack of hit singles. The album itself sold well, and even was her first to chart on the Billboard Top 200. I think calling it a "blip" is a bit unfair, I'd say The Sensual World and Red Shoes were more "blippish", just my opinion :) SO off topic ;D My definitive opinion on Bionic, though, is just.. eugh. Yeah I guess I agree :) Whenever I call one of Kate's albums my favourite though, my brain goes into action trying to convince me otherwise ;) I really love them all. Actually I think ARTPOP could well be Gaga's Dreaming (maybe that was BTW though, hmm), in terms of her taking even more control over the music (or crafting her team more). Remember the rumour a few months ago that the producer of the lead single would be female, it seemed like it'd be Gaga. I think calling your record "ahead of its time" is a bit of a Get Out of Jail Free Card, don't you? Like "I don't have to answer any questions in regard to why it performed badly in the charts, Im an artist, I take chances, it was ahead of it's time, nobody appreciated it " etcetectc

Like "I don't have to answer any questions in regard to why it performed badly in the charts, Im an artist, I take chances, it was ahead of it's time, nobody appreciated it " etcetectc i'd love that. i'd like gaga to take a more hands on approach to her music. i know she writes it herself, but i think she should really start training herself to be a producer as well. you can hear the stamp of an individual producer on her music quite noticeably and i hope eventually she really solidifies her own sound, although i'm not sure how well that sort of thing works with dance music or if it's even relevant for an artist like gaga. i wish it was. it should be! i guess we'll just see. agreed. :) it rubs me the wrong way because talking about your own work like that lacks humility, rather arrogantly. as if the consumer's opinion is invalid. it's okay for you to love and be protective of your work, but don't try to tell people they just don't get it. I think that with Gaga, if she thinks it's an important thing for dance music (artists becoming their own producers to achieve a more specific sound) then she'll make it important by doing it. I think that's the kind of artist that she is - she exists within Pop, but she doesn't have to adhere to the rules of Pop to be successful.
