MANiCURE1295 8,673
Yeah I love that idea as well. I truly think that Gaga's next era could be huge. She just needs to reestablish her connection with the general audience and pick good singles. Edited May 18, 2012 by AlienHookerSlut

Eulonzo 51
Tbh, an album focusing on the decay of both male/female icons would be the death of me. (Michael Jackson). Random thought but.. Fixed.
Hauser 1,262
I want something that doesn't have a stupid breakdown like all of these new songs, and I want it to be completely new sounding. Catch all of the other girls off guard. I would lahv it. This!

kupo 201
At first with all this talk about fame being a main preoccupation of the new album, I wasn't that thrilled either. However, if it specifically tackles the schadenfreude of the public in relation to celebrities, if it explores specifically (and with depth) the "decay" of celebrity/superstardom/fame, then I think that will be interesting, and pretty different from TF. The only song on TF that really explored that concept was Paparazzi, and it was clear from the moment TF was released that Paparazzi was the most sophisticated song on the album thematically, and kinda pushed that album to the boundary of its own themes. So it makes sense that her further explorations of the topic of fame would use that as a jumping off point.

Really, I thought Paprazzi wasn't really that deep, it was a song about falling in love with a boy, not about fame at all. Although the song itself was catchy I didn't get any deep meaning behind it. And she doesn't work with many producers that are known to do that. Fernando is too sophisticated for that ish! and DJWS is God so he wouldn't do it either. It would be great if she had instrumental sections of her songs that were electric guitar/drums/etc like full on rock and roll.
kupo 201
Well, most of The Fame is skin deep (sorta the point) unless you read it simultaneously as satire of celebrity culture. Paparazzi, however, is the one song actually sort of about something. Indeed, it's a love song that uses the paparazzi as a metaphor for obsession. But, in terms of the way Gaga plays the video and contextualizes the song, it kinda becomes the reverse of that: the obsessive (and troubling) love story becomes a metaphor for the relationship the paparazzi has with its subjects. And as such, I think it becomes the most sophisticated and interesting song on the album, the one that sort of has subtext even without the satire that characterizes the whole album. ETA-that was all in response to Skrillex, obviously. Forgot to quote him. Edited May 18, 2012 by kupo
