If I was the creative director for the artRave

I would make the following general improvements and changes from the BTWB:

1. Create a sort of consistent stage that she can make use of; no large castle that she barely does anything with or on. There would be multiple props such as large seashells and the egg from the Applause video + Swinefest that can be exchanged for others depending on the song. Make the stage itself and the backdrop, whatever it may be, light up. Scatter numerous simplistic structures for Gaga, her dancers and the band to use.

2. Incorporate some sort of technology into the stage. Make use of screens throughout the arena and as the backdrop itself, so that people can see what's going on. Have areas of the stage glow and move.

3. Adding to the incorporation of screens, also make video interludes. People loved those during The Monster Ball.

4. Remix some of your old songs a bit, while still keeping the original sound. Add new intros and outros to some songs to keep them fresh, such as having a minute or so long instrumental (and possibly vocals) before segueing into songs, like the euphoric intros before ARTPOP and Sexxx Dreams during Swinefest.

5. Have some amazing theatricality at the beginning of songs. Don't ride a horse into the arena. Make use of lights and smoke, have a prop such as a massive clamshell that opens up, or start off the show by coming down from a large birdcage with Aura, have some smoke blare up as the door on it opens to let her out. Smoke and lights do a lot for the show to look flashy. Also make sure to incorporate smaller props such as the magnifying glass during Sexxx Dreams at Swinefest.

6. Have amazing choreography for the ARTPOP songs. Don't make anything like some sections of the Americano dance. Make the moves have crisp, articulated hand and leg movements. Don't just run or jump around the stage; don't be theatrical in your moves, have some sections where you have dance breakdowns, and not just in the bridges of songs. These breakdowns could be accentuated so much if the choreography is great.

7. Make use of the costume innovations teased for the era; wear the fiber-optic wig, use the dress that makes bubbles (for ballads only), go forward with making the lava-lamp heels that were rumored to be created by a fashion designer. Maybe have something flashy with the piano, such as making parts of it glow or adding neon or water to it. There are a million possibilities.

8. Have parts of the stage that move. No, not like the BTWB castle. Have some sort of platform that rises up (something like SHICD but a little smaller, where she can do choreography and not just stand there in an immobile dress.) Props such as planets or larger structures should be made for certain songs that can be actively interacted with in an interesting way. Make some parts of this fast-paced. Not all of her songs are slow; therefore, there shouldn't be slow points during, say, Donatella's chorus or the second verse of Aura. This goes along with improving the choreography. Maybe have some props like the Aura cage that fly up into the air, have more mobile structures like that which look good, are interesting and add some creativity. Take note with the tree that Britney comes down from during the Piece Of Me tour. You can also see this from the subway and car sets of the Monster Ball. Those were interesting structures that they made good use of. Even if it's not Gaga moving, have the dancers or other people moving around, such as during Swine at the Swinefest, when the people dressed as 'pigs' were above the stage, flying around as rainbow smoke came out of their mouths. Maybe have the signs with the song titles on them that were flying around during Swine make a re-appearance as well.

9. Know when to do choreography and when not to do it. If it's a song like Donatella, you won't need the best vocals in the world, so really go for it with amazing choreography. If it's a song like MANiCURE, that focuses a bit on the vocals, don't do flips in the air and fly all over the stadium; that isn't necessary. Be on point with the theme/sound of the song so you can figure out how the choreography should go. A good example of choreography working well with the song is Sexxx Dreams; it is a slow and s-xual song, and thus the dancing should be brought down a little bit and made more sensual.

10. Wear clothing that works more for dancing. Some things just don't look good when you're dancing in it, such as the Americano dress. The Paparazzi and Schieße outfit during the BTWB was great because it allowed for good movement and accentuated the choreography better (pants are almost always good with this and have worked for artists like Gaga and Britney in the past. Make use of headwear and also have some wig changes during the show; perhaps have one act where the Venus wig is used, another where the Marilyn wig is worn, others with blonde hair in different styles, a few songs with the black Swinefest MANiCURE wig, a section where she just has her actual hair...be creative with this kind of thing. You are a fashion icon and should make use of many different wigs and headpieces as much as possible.

Bonus: Make sure the story is good. This fits in with the interludes. Don't make anything too weird such as the massive vagina in the BTWB...it just looks really weird and doesn't add anything to the show at all except maybe a few laughs or a meme.

These are my suggestions for the artRave. What do you think?

Abridged:

1. Create a consistent and simplistic stage that can be interacted with.

2. Make a stage that uses technology such as screens, make it glow and move.

3. Make use of video interludes on screens.

4. Remix some old songs, have some new intros on different songs.

5. Exhibit theatricality at the beginning of songs, use interactive and mobile props. Use smoke and lights to make the show flashier, incorporate smaller, hand-held props.

6. Have better choreography; don't be theatrical with dance moves. Have them be crisp, articulate and professional and have dance breakdowns where you could show the moves off. Don't run and jump around the stage in place of choreography.

7. Use the innovative clothing teased for the ARTPOP era.

8. Create interesting structures for the show that do different things and can be interacted with in numerous ways.

9. Make the choreography fit with the song, and know when to dance. For songs that require vocal power, make it so there's less dancing and more standing by the microphone (like MANiCURE). For moments such as the Donatella chorus that don't need many notes being belted out, really dance hard.

10. Wear clothing that works for dancing and accentuates the choreography. Wear better and more diverse wigs and headpieces.

Bonus: Make sure the story is good. Don't make anything too weird or out there in terms of props that are meant to fit in with the storyline.

I think she should really focus on the storyline, the physical effects, the interlude and the stage. That's what I want to be on point.

Update Just Dance, Poker Face, etc. also, add some EDM instrumentals. Madonna does it all the time on her tours and as you've stated, keeps the songs fresh.

anyways lets be honest here, its a world tour, not a vegas residency (where it would be easier to do crazy productions and pull it off easier)

realistically, its going to be swinefest 2.0

also, thats way tooo much. lets not over do it tbh

I really like your ideas, I'll come back later once I've finished writing my own... :laughga:

i noticed that gaga has very tame openings for her tour and she saves the crazy stuff for the middle

The Monster Ball openings for very tame, but also very effective. The opening for the BTWB not so much...

I agree completely with you!

I really have a great vision of the opening!

please read my dream opening below:

So Imagine. all the rich people are in there seats, the real fans are on the floor. everyone is waiting. The wait is killing everyone, everyones talking about there days and crap they need to do. The lights go out. Everyone flips, stands up, screams. The lights are out for a good 45 seconds when you hear the beginning of G.U.Y. "Greetings primeros!" But this isn't Gaga's  voice its an auto tuned mainly voice. the voice echoes throughout the arena. After the echoing lights slowly start to light up the stage. All kinds of lights. for the opening i see mainly an aqua color of light. A techno type sound is playing when a white see through ball is slowly starting to be lowered to the stage. while being lowered the remaining lines of the guy intro are playing. then a light is placed on the ball and gaga's sillouhette appears. she sings the opening verse,"I wanna be the girl..........." a long dramatic pause while the crowd looses control. then she continues," under the you....................(city name) I wanna be your Guy..................I wanna be the grave and earth you.....................our s-xes tell us no lies."  then the ball falls with Gaga in it. she walks out of it as the song starts. The bass is loud as she sings,"I'm gonna wear the tie........

The song would continue.

Thats my dream opening!

I agree with a lot of things but the Horse & the Giant Vagina was ICONIC. But I mean it did weird some people out. I hope the stage this time around is more simple
