Michael 533
No, Britney isn't finished. Britney Spears isn't the type of artist that could just be 'finished' because a couple of their singles underperformed. She is in her own lane within the industry, and will forever be a part of pop music. She is going nowhere. As far as the promo situation goes, I don't know why everybody is so surprised by the lack of promo. Britney hasn't thoroughly promoted one of her albums since In The Zone ten years ago. For Blackout she did absolutely no promotion at all except VMA's which hindered more than helped, and one interview with Ryan Seacrest which was also a trainwreck and she left halfway through it. Then for Circus and Femme Fatale she didn't perform on stage until the album release week. She never promotes her lead singles. Ever. Not in 10 years. In fact, the promotion this era has been more than her previous three era's as she has actually done TV interviews and many radio interviews, whereas in the her last era we didn't even hear her speak for more than 2 months after her lead single came out. Better Day 5,766
What do you expect? She is a company puppet. Always have been always will be. Her company has given up on her so that's why she isn't performing anymore Together You And I!
stackhouse 3
I just wish she'd kicked the bucket during her breakdown, that way we'd all think of her as the ultimate blonde bombshell who met a tragically beautiful and symbolic end (a la Marilyn) rather than the fat soccer mom vegetable she is now
Starfire 0
I think she'll still be a successful recording artist. She just had that song that did really well "Scream & Shout", so I think she can still make good music. Performing is another thing.

I have to agree with this statement and I've been following Britney since 1998. Unfortunately I think she's passed her peak which is fine but I think people fail to understand that she's a grown woman living a grown woman's life. She has kids and I think her main focus is trying to be a mother (hence why artists like P!nk disappeared for a bit and the same goes for ADELE). She's a staple in pop music and even people like Gaga use her as inspiration. Britney isn't "over." No one with impact of her kind can ever really be "over." All they do is just retire and pursue other ventures.

Lascivious 0
I'm a huge Britney fan, always have been and always will be, but I think she's lost her passion for the industry. She's been through so much and had so much trauma in her life that she LITERALLY developed mental issues and has severe Anxiety. She is a nervous-wreck. She is completely normal with her children and family but can't cope with or handle the spotlight. For a person's brain to snap they have to endure a lot of trauma and stress and this has been building up in Britney for years before the infamous breakdown. I love her but she's not the same an most likely never will be. She'd have to put in A LOT of work to make the impact she used to. Quit sad because she looked AMAZING during the Circus era but the personality and the performances were just... Not there.

Not only is that offensive to Britney but it's also offensive to all people who are struggling with mental illness themselves. It completely takes away the value of their life. And there's nothing beautiful about dying young and the idea that Britney would have became more of an iconic and glamorized figure through her dying is really sad. I don't look at Marilyn Monroe's death as being glamorous, I look at her life as being glamorous.

Torontomonster 0
I have always loved Britney, i have all her records, and I look forward to it when she has something new. I even really like Work Bitch, its a great dance track, even tho it didn't seem to catch on. It is indeed sad that this era for her seems to be flopping. but maybe, at this point in her career, she just wants to have some new material out to fulfill her contract, and give her some new material to perform at Vegas, and it isn't really sad for her at all. Celine Dion said a long time ago, that her priorities changes when she had a family and she didn't want to be travellling the world, she wanted to be able to stay put. This sounds like exactly what Britney wants now too. Isn't Britney in her 30s now? And she's been doing this since she was 18! That's a super long time to do the same job, even if that job is being a famous pop star. Most people change their priorities from when they're a teenager to when they're in their twenties, and then again when they enter their 30s, esp if they have kids. She's a human being, with a fabulous job, but it is, to her, a job, and she's been doing it since she was a kid. I can totally see her being bored with it, and not having the HUNGER any more. Gaga and Katy aren't that much younger maybe, but their careers are much younger, and they are still establishing their legacies. They're still hungry, so its still exciting to them, and for us who follow either of them. But Britney has long established her legacy already, so let her fade in peace. At least she's actually putting out new music, even if she's not willing to hustle around the globe to top the charts. I think she's earned the right to enjoy her 30s in the way she wants, and to prioritize (or not prioritize) her career as she sees fit.
Jaqe 37
I love Britney. I also believe that she just doesn't want it as much (if at all) as she did before. Can you really blame her? She has family, kids to care for. Also if your management told you what to do for the past 10 years I'm sure you would be sick of it at this point. Nonetheless she's awesome and still makes good music (imo). We should just cherish the fact that we could (some of us) grow up while listening to her music and watching crazy dance routines. Raikov 183
tbh, I didn't know Britney still had fans until I went on GGD. I do think Britney's fans are amazing and I admire their love for her; it just seems kind of... pure. idk, maybe I have this really idealized image of them. Chucky 39
Sad but true..... Blackout and circus were her last efforts with true Brit flair album wise but performer wise, she's been some for almost a decade.... Femme fatale was my least exciting time to be a Britney fan and so far this era I just don't care and she doesn't appear to either... If she had it her way I guarantee she would happily retire with her kids out in louisianna... just my opinion.. I'll always be a fan but because she's Britney... not because I'm impressed anymore sadly. :emo: On 11/11/2013 at 10:17 AM, Kermit the frog said: She's been since 2004, darling.
