Michael 533
Trust me, she isn't retiring. She may take long gaps in between albums, like 4 or 5 years. But she'll always come back. She's already spoken in interviews this era about wanting to reach 15 albums and she has ideas about her next one.

StrawberryBlond 14,314
If she does, it's for the best. It's heartbreaking to see her press on with her career that she doesn't want, not promote her work so it flops and have a tour where she's lipsynching once again. Her label and her parents have been using her as a cash machine for years with no thought for her sanity and she let them get away with it because she's never been the driving force behind her records and hasn't been in her right mind for years. I just want her put out of her misery. If she doesn't, I fear she could end up like Whitney Houston - albums doing worse and worse, a tour with lots of criticism and finally, the end. As depressing as that thought is, it's obvious that continuously forcing a mentally vulnerable person into taxing work that they don't want to do is a recipe for disaster. It's a shame that she could be potentially ending on the worst album of her career and a floppy residency show. I would love to see her do a proper send-off - a greatest hits world arena tour that includes all the major cities. It doesn't matter if she only fills half an arena or less, she's there for all her fans one last time. Because she knows this is her last ever job as a celebrity, she can fling herself into it full force and give it her all. She can even do the last date in Louisiana as a symbolic point for her leaving her fame and going back home. Trust me, she isn't retiring. She may take long gaps in between albums, like 4 or 5 years. But she'll always come back. She's already spoken in interviews this era about wanting to reach 15 albums and she has ideas about her next one. I realise that she has given conflicting information like that before, but this time, I think this really could be it. Britney Jean is the last album in her contract with RCA, she's doing a residency show for 2 years and she said she plans to take a hiatus after this. This has all the makings of imminent retirement. Now that her contractual obligations with RCA are fulfilled, what other label is going to take her on? Her singles, albums and tours are flopping, she needs guidance with every element of her career, she refuses to promote and is mentally fragile. That's far too much baggage for anyone to take on. Even if she does want to continue making albums, labels might be reluctant to pour so much money into them and release them as they'll only flop. Sometimes, you just have to know when to quit. This residency show is going to be a good way to test the waters to see how much demand she still has. Girls Aloud reunited for a greatest hits tour and claimed that the performance of the tour would decide if they would start making albums again. It flopped, so they split for good. Judging by Britney's residency numbers so far, there's very little demand, and the demand that is there is likely 100% North American. I just don't see her fans flying from all over the world to see her in Vegas.
gagaisitalian 3,573
It's all for the best. Britney was my absolute idol growing up. She was my Gaga before Gaga came around. She was the first cd I bought (age 5) and was my first concert (age 7). It will be sad to see her go, but I hope she moves back to Louisiana and lives the relaxed lifestyle she has been wanting for so long.
Dean Winchester 196
I'm so proud of Britney. I applaud her for how far she has come. Not only did she keep going after her public breakdown although others would have called it quits she was also able to raise a family. I know that many of her fans will be devastated to see her retire but i think she's doing whats best for her and that is what matters. She will always remain the princess of pop
MonsterLuv 7
I have never been a Britney fan as in someone who followed her career or bought her albums. Her first single came out when I was in high school, and she was EVERYWHERE. Every episode of TRL, MTV Diary, magazines, radio, etc. Even without being a fan, you still knew a lot about her. It's been very sad to see the difference in her personality from her first years as a pop singer to the more recent ones. She is not the same. She had such a bubbly, outgoing personality and now she just appears uncomfortable and shy. Her comportment really does contribute to the rumor/belief that she is being forced to continue her career. If that is actually the case, that is disheartening, and I feel bad for her and hope she is able to retire. Literally, for her sanity and well-being. I think by retire she means go away for a while, but not forever. Maybe she'll come back in 2018/2019 with a new album after she's had a couple more kids. I do realize that this is her final album under RCA but I am 100% certain that her deal will be extended for at least 5 more albums. And as far as no other record companies wanting her, that certainly isn't true. She's Britney Spears at the end of the day. When her contract with Jive ended there was a huge bidding war in the Sony divisions for her and she ultimately opted for RCA. And all reports about her Vegas shows selling badly are false. THC 0
Omg no she can't do that. She's literally the reason why I do what I'm doing right now in my life  But I really don't think she'll retire. She's only 32 and music is her life. I mean what would she do ? Have kids and be housewife for the rest of her life ? No. Britney ALWAYS comes back, I don't think she can just throw music away so soon. Sure she'll take a long break but just watch her coming back. Even if she doesn't put her whole into it, I don't think she can stop making music.
