Most of my info comes from Nick, but the music director (who is also one of the people on the morning show) never has anything nice to say about Gaga and is a huge Katy stan. They pretty much NEVER play Gaga's songs, even when they're in the Top 40. Hell, when DWUW was in the Top TEN they NEVER played it, and it was one of the only TWO songs topping in the charts that they DIDN'T play. And people can vote/request songs to be in the "Twin Cities top #" or whatever, and despite Gaga songs getting on there a lot they would never play them outside of that special block of time. Before this new girl started working, Gaga was played a LOT and her singles got a fair amount of spins. I know Gaga's music recently isn't as popular as her older stuff, but the way she is simply NOT played is way too deliberate. And she was here on Tuesday, but the ONLY thing the radio did to get promo/talk about it was give away tickets, which they have to do. Real shady ****. I will admit that I still listen to the radio show in the morning on the way to work with my hubby, though. KDWB was playing **** that was not popular at all while DWUW was a single despite DWUW being one of the biggest radio songs. It was only played on Sundays for the AT40 countdown, which is run by Ryan Seacrest. They basically pretended that she didn't exist. Also, they drag Gaga through the mud on their facebook whenever they get the chance. While other clearchannel stations will post something like, "Lady Gaga wears new outfit" they will be like "Lady Gaga attempts to remain relevant by wearing new outfit." And then the first line of their articles will be like, "The fading popstar etc etc.." It's so f*cking aggravating. They DID post favorable content about Gaga's Gillette's visit but I mean, they kind of had to. Hopefully that will open their eyes in the future though. It's so unfair because the top 40 audience is very impressionistic and huge opinion leaders like Falen and Dave Ryan have massive influence. They're shaping the Twin Cities' tastes based on their own, despite what is popular. It's Falen that's behind it all. Ugh. Yep, and she just signed a contract for another two years. Eww...sounds very shady. :( DWUW was pretty big when it was released as far as I remember so yeah for them to not play it doesn't add up. But if they are a commercial station they should play everyone really whether they like them or not. I did some community radio years ago (it was fun but work got in the way unfortunately) and we played anything people requested regardless if we liked them or not. See, I REALLY like Falen other than this Gaga chip she's got on her shoulder. It's disappointing to know she's so shady towards someone so nice, because otherwise Falen is really funny, imo.
