Gov Hooka 8,008
It's a sad day for physical CD stores everywhere. The lesson the industry will take - Beyonce got a lot of people who would stream or illegally download to make an impulse purchase to get unknown music instantly. The music industry better not come to impulse purchases and random releases or then it truly is doomed.
craig 680
WTH is this? I swear, Katy's live singing gets worse and worse. It's not like Roar is a vocally challenging song or that she is dancing too much, either. Beyonce, Pink and Gaga wipe the floor with their live vocals compared to this hot mess! So what, it's not a reality singing competition. She has several songs of all 3 albums that wipe the floor with anything |'ve heard on the last two Beyonce albums. In the end, good songs rule. Mills 446
no, u're wrong with that lol, how is somebody allowed to get that amount of sells and sing like **** wtf Commercialism may not be the best thing for some, but its existence shouldn't be lambasted for being outright bad. KP's music caters to the mainstream audience. Her core consumer base buy primarily because of the song/s, not because she's the best vocalist out there or because she can play a dozen of musical instruments. They buy because they enjoy listening to the overall production of the song and to the entertainment it brings to them. I may agree that KP isn't the best singer among her contemporaries, but that shouldn't disallow the public on which song they'd buy or not. Not all the successful artists in history were great vocalists. But that didn't hinder them from selling millions of albums. For me, it's the same argument why McDonald's or Coca-Cola, multinationals deemed to be "unhealthy", yet are still patronized by almost everybody. chris777 112
people know that Katy is not a good singer and still buy her music. let it be. 56. Avicii - Hey Brother will this be a hit in the US? I like it better than Wake Me Up

I like it better than Wake Me Up I hope so. It tends to follow what's hot elsewhere. Its MV is also getting decent views. And I just noticed that Avicii doesn't really credit the vocalists from his songs.
craig 680
Often singers with average vocal talent have better songs, better beats, and better theatrics than those with great voices who think that alone can carry them. Madonna was so much more creative than Mariah. Wasn't I Kissed a Girl was less mainstream when it came out than Crazy in Love.

She has several songs of all 3 albums that wipe the floor with anything |'ve heard on the last two Beyonce albums. In the end, good songs rule. Well, it was a live performance from a singer-performer. I kind of expect either some semi-decent dance moves or a decent vocal. At the very least, she could just lip sync the whole thing! I am shocked that this many years into her career, Katy still hasn't figured out how to write songs for her vocal ability or work around her limited abilities. Most singers and performers do improve after they have been performing for a few years, due to learing their own strengths and weaknesses. Maybe there are too many weaknesses to work with in this case.

Madonna was so much more creative than Mariah. Wasn't I Kissed a Girl was less mainstream when it came out than Crazy in Love. And I assume that's to give less to little emphasis on their vocal limitations. What intrigues me is that Gaga's vocals are usually overshadowed by her theatrics and beats, at least to those who aren't hardcore fans. And with that in mind, I'd actually prefer if she further focuses more on showcasing her vocals all throughout ARTPOP, starting this upcoming the Voice performance - to address this concern. If only she'd perform close enough to what she did at Chatty Man weeks ago, I could see a much bigger impact for DWUW. And besides, she has already relied so much on theatrics during the past two big promo spots for DWUW (SNL and the AMAs), the more I'm convinced that it would be better for her to go on that simplistic route. Griffin 6
Next era I doubt we'll be getting a tonne of pre-release singles, snippets and other material from Gaga. Beyoncé has shown us that minimal material and "cumshot releases" ignite impulse buying. During Britney's FF era - didn't a site find that when she did promo, her songs would actually nosedive? Things are better in our imagination. But I doubt Beyoncé's era will last past her potential Grammy performance or any Jan-Feb appearances. Singles won't sustain with just urban and minimal pop + other support, no music video boosts and likely minimal promo. It will however solidify her as an album and live artist, which is all she seems to strive for anyway. So everyone's happy. I imagine this is part of a major turn into Urban R&B music back into popular music. For this reason, I hope Interscope push Gaga's music as hard as possible in the next year or two - and perhaps a slight image change would be in tow. Songs like So Happy I Could Die showed us that Gaga can take from a number of influences and ARTPOP is the most daring album yet in crossover songs. If the shift into Urban music is gradual, Gaga can reap the benefits of selling electropop-urban influenced tracks and release a well-timed single that captures the pop music of the past five years and serves a prelude to the upcoming sound. Exciting and scary times ahead.
Luc 4,775
For now I think it's front loaded cause nothing sounds like a hit but HEW knows It won't be. I think it has potential to end up as the best-selling female album in the US released in 2013: - physical hasn't been released yet - with all this hype, literally ALL soccer moms will buy it for teir children - the week after christmas will be monstrous sales for er: if things go well the hype won'thave died down ad everybody who gets an itunes card for christmas will buy Bey's album. Then after 2013 she has: probably a Grammy appearance, which could push sales a lot, and she will win AOTY awards through the whole year.
