Both are weak vocalists, but Rihanna has the edge as she is both better vocalist and her voice is stronger than Katy's ... People should stop comparing and start appreciating the artist for the artist (if that makes sense) Of course If you compare Katy to Gaga, Katy is really really bad but why comparing her to Gaga... If we compare Gaga to Celine Dion, Gaga's voice is weak ... Well not necessarily, because I don't like Celine's voice. Gaga's voice certainly isn't weak compared to hers. Ha. Luc 4,775 Posted January 1, 2014 Share Posted January 1, 2014 I wouldn't say she is the ultimate songwriter, but she does write songs with nice insides of the message she is trying to convey, i would never drag her songwriting skills tho, mostly in a gaga fan site :reductive: and as for her vocals, you might have never heard her do anything else that the range of chords you name because most of her songs ARE acoustic or pop instrumentals, that's like someone hearing ARTPOP and saying "she doesn't have variety because all she does is EDM" maybe that's what the ARTISTS likes you know, but coming at her for her VOCAL SKILLS is very silly since i doubt anyone in the pop business right now has a better voice than her with such capacities to go down and up and use falsetto the way she does it and deal SHE'S FAT AND SUCCESSFUL, you might have a problem there Thing is, people think that she's saving Pop music while songs like Someone Like You use the simplest most boring and most overused C G Am F chords (meanwhile Gaga gets dragged left and right for using the same chord progression as Express Yourself).
