At this point, radio has been our only saving grace for DWUW. It's a miracle they're playing it as much as they are considering it's barely above Unconditionally on iTunes. The complete lack of a video really is a shame. I don't agree with the people who say Gaga is no longer a charts artist. But I do think that will be somewhat true for the "ARTPOP era." There's too much trouble going on behind the scenes right now. Nothing has been going according to plan at all.

As for single choices, I'm completely over this Venus talk. Everybody acts like the only reason people who don't support it as a single just want "safe" choices. Gypsy isn't a safe choice because it's a basic song. It's a safe choice because it's the ONLY freaking song on the album that has managed to consistently stay in the top 1500. Do people who support Venus really think that a Gaga performance at the Grammy's would "win over the gp"? Not to mention, DWUW would have been sacrificed for nothing if Venus is released next. Venus will not help album sales either. To be perfectly honest, I really don't understand why it's even up for single consideration. I really like the song, but I consider it one of the least commercial on the album.

Imagine if Gypsy was the first single

I think this all the time... :rip:

Welcome to Gagadaily, we're happy to have you  :) i agree with you  :worship: I really want Venus to be the next single; its not just the song, its also the way gaga seems genuinely happy when she performs and even mentions it.  I think at this point in her career she should do what makes her happy.  And i believe that Venus can give that to her.  I dont really know how Venus is gonna do chart wise but i know concept wise, a full on Venus era will be out of this world for sure.  And besides, Venus is the most forward-thinking, futuristic track on the album; and has the potential to be a huge game changer in the pop music scene if it does become successful; so i want gags to take the risk   Venus is my personal favourite off the album too   #JusticeForVenus

Thank you, I hope to be here a bit before I get bashed

But I agree with you, if it's a Grammy performance, can you imagine how much effort and stage presence she will have in showcasing her project to the world? Remember when you were younger and so proud of that poster, science project, or essay you did and couldn't wait to share it? It'll be something like that, except with Gaga, it'd be something huge. DWUW at the AMAs was good, and I feel that if she used something like the background on twitter (from Hercules), as well as complete Greek themes in her Grammy performance, she'll not shock the world, but actually amaze them with her stage presence. Plus, you know she's going to want kick-ass choreography since this song is her baby.

I feel she'll just do much better if we back off her decisions and give her time to plan, being Lady Gaga isn't a cakewalk (though we do wish to have Cake like Lady Gaga....), and neither is developing concepts to execute.

I'm sure within two weeks, the video will come out to generate buzz before the Grammys. At the Grammys, she'll probably begin with a performance of DWUW and segue into Venus, and amaze.  :worship:

This is so true. I bet you that if Gaga had said that Venus was produced by RedOne everyone would love it :reductive:

I love it tho. It's my favorite song off ARTPOP

Sooooo true. This fanbase is completely predictable. I can guess their reaction to most things and be right 90% of the time.

Think about the backlash of Gypsy, because it would only encourage the stan wars even more as well as become trollbait for people calling her a flop and go COMPLETELY against the idea of Gaga not caring for the charts.

In addition, do you think that Gypsy will go well for a showcase of avante garde (speculation) Act II if it happens?

Venus promo would be more organized and would have if she didn't listen to the label, there was plenty of hype around it and it was in the top 20 on iTunes for quite a bit when people THOUGHT it would be a single. Imagine where it would have been if it was actually a single, with radio play and a video? Probably in the Top 5, if not, then at least the Top 10.

The fact is, Venus is really something that isn't like anything on the radio, which is a gem. You NEED diversity. Sometimes it's easy to just get lost in songs since they have a simple bass/synth line, and the song after is so similar that you have to actually think about the lyrics to see if it's the same song.

Plus, it's something you can play in your car on a Saturday night to pump you up, or even before work.

Again, it's just my thoughts.

Also, can you imagine the surprise of someone that doesn't listen to Gaga when they first hear the beat of Venus to draw them into the song, and after a little bit they can actually get into the song?

You really can't do that with Gypsy, and if you actually look at her previous #1s (Just Dance, Poker Face, BTW), there was something to draw you into the song. If it simply starts with vocals, that's just simply offputting. You need vibe and general sound before you decide if you want to listen to something, you don't need to be thrown right into it.

imagine the music video being Olympus-inspired  :excited2: it would totally be amaze-balls   :legend: And what if during the bridge she dressed up as each one of the roman/greek gods like Neptune, pluto etc.   I dont wanna imagine the slayage at the grammys if she actually performed Venus

EXACTLY

There is just so much potential.

Also, Gypsy is just way too similar to MTN in terms of sound and I just can't see it performing even better.

Venus is just sonically superior... And has just that hook that can get you dancing in the car or at least banging your fingers on the steering wheel. That's a song, not something that's going to please the public. Gaga doesn't please the public, the public pleases Gaga.

Also the different layers of meanings in the song is just unbelievable.  The song can be interpreted as being about Mythological love, or as a metaphor for s-x; and even a statement on faith.  Who knows, there's probably more layers to the song we have yet to discover  :toofunny: Like when a member here stated that the line "Don't you know my a$$ is famous?" can be a reference to this statue:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venus_Callipyge as well as gaga's beautiful a$$

What is OBAMA

I think this all the time... :rip:

i HONESTLY think gypsy was in post production by the time the lead single needed to be decided to make the video and all

i doubt that someone like Jimmy would have chosen Gypsy over applause

i always think that gypsy was the late bloomer of the album(just like HML was in BTW) because we only started to find out about the song around september/oct

anyway, anything on the album would have been outshadowed by Roar, Royals and WB either way so, let's just accept that applause performed very well in its own way.

That would be just amazing

The entire concept is beautiful, especially since I appreciate Greek Mythology and the Roman Adaptation

She has potential for ARTPOP with Venus, which is what I think she REALLY wanted in the first place

Three months have been lost with DWUW, it's time to change it up. No more safe.
