Stefani 25
Next era I doubt we'll be getting a tonne of pre-release singles, snippets and other material from Gaga. Beyoncé has shown us that minimal material and "cumshot releases" ignite impulse buying. During Britney's FF era - didn't a site find that when she did promo, her songs would actually nosedive? Things are better in our imagination. But I doubt Beyoncé's era will last past her potential Grammy performance or any Jan-Feb appearances. Singles won't sustain with just urban and minimal pop + other support, no music video boosts and likely minimal promo. It will however solidify her as an album and live artist, which is all she seems to strive for anyway. So everyone's happy. I imagine this is part of a major turn into Urban R&B music back into popular music. For this reason, I hope Interscope push Gaga's music as hard as possible in the next year or two - and perhaps a slight image change would be in tow. Songs like So Happy I Could Die showed us that Gaga can take from a number of influences and ARTPOP is the most daring album yet in crossover songs. If the shift into Urban music is gradual, Gaga can reap the benefits of selling electropop-urban influenced tracks and release a well-timed single that captures the pop music of the past five years and serves a prelude to the upcoming sound. Exciting and scary times ahead. Can't wait. Gaga has set the trend for electro-dance-pop music to take over now she needs to set a new trend
craig 680
And I assume that's to give less to little emphasis on their vocal limitations. What intrigues me is that Gaga's vocals are usually overshadowed by her theatrics and beats, at least to those who aren't hardcore fans. And with that in mind, I'd actually prefer if she further focuses more on showcasing her vocals all throughout ARTPOP, starting this upcoming the Voice performance - to address this concern. If only she'd perform close enough to what she did at Chatty Man weeks ago, I could see a much bigger impact for DWUW. And besides, she has already relied so much on theatrics during the past two big promo spots for DWUW (SNL and the AMAs), the more I'm convinced that it would be better for her to go on that simplistic route. For me, vocals should be just one par of music (along with lyrics, beats, instruments, theatrics), and I appreciative that Gaga isn't a attention seeking showoff in her vocals like Xtina. See shouldn't focus on proving some technical prowess like an X Factor contestant, because the people who prefer Adele still aren't going like to like her songs. craig 680
I imagine this is part of a major turn into Urban R&B music back into popular music. Is so, Timberlake would still be smashing, Thicke would have more than one hit, DWUW would be taking off. It's more about a successful marking gimmick and Beyonce's star status and getting people to pay for music on impulse.
Luc 4,775
Beyonce isn't as big worldwide as in US And neither is itunes. And the release hype peaked while Europe slept. Wrong. Beyonce is the biggest female artist here, togeter with Rihanna and Adele. Bey'salbm debuts will be low all over theworld though, I'd e surprised if it could go #1 in markets where only 10% of album sales are digital. Netherlands is weird with it's un-Euro aversion to dance-pop. I know the UK was listening to Britney and Xtina and Britney and Girls Aloud while US was going nuts for Mariah-Destiny's Child, and they weren't as big there as in the US (although she made progress since Sasha Fierce). Bey is dwarfed by Rihanna in UK.

Of course, I agree with you. The production of her songs are among the reasons why she stands out from the crowd - along with the theatrics (in her videos and tours) and her lyrics. That's what makes her brand. I meant in her future performances on television, I believe the simpler and less complicated she presents her music to the audience (those who do not belong in her core fanbase), the more compelling for them to actually purchase the product, wouldn't they? I'm basing this with all the comments I've read online, those who are "surprised" that Gaga actually does have a good voice. Wouldn't it be favourable to her to hit that segment? Dance/trance/dubstep are the most popular genres here, and half of the Top 10 DJs in the world are Dutch (Afrojack, Nicki Romero, Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, and more). But a different genre that's very popular is Rock/poprock/indie rock, the second biggest music station in the country mostly plays classics and just Indie Rock. Well the theatrical Oz GMA performance and the AMA ones went over better than Dope at itunes awards. It's good to present herself as an entertaining touring artist. Sure, she can focus on vocals stripped down occasionally, change things up, but don't focus on proving something to pop haters who wouldn't enjoy ARTPOP anyway. Incorrect. But do you have the sort of EDM fans who think a girl singing on a dance track ruins it, and that pure EDM is best? I know Netherlands is a much tougher market for Kylie than France and Germany too. Pure Adrenaline 1,518
The 5th album rebound looks promising then. Britney got her first top 5 hit from her 5th album since her debut. Rihanna scored three consecutive #1s from her 5th album, after only getting one #1 from Rated R. And now, Beyonce pulling these numbers after 4... one has to wonder on how Gaga's 5th album would be. But ARTPOP is only her 3rd studio album .... It's much more fun to have hizophrenia... u never get lonely

Yeah. Radio seems rather s-xist here tbh, male voice is preferred here.

But as I've earlier said, the reason why I'm pushing for a performance that highlights more on her vocals than on the theatrics for the Voice promo spot is the reception her performances from SNL and the AMAs got, well at least in terms of how much sales those two attracted. To borrow your own words, to change things up by stripping it down a bit could be good for her.

Mills 446
But ARTPOP is only her 3rd studio album .... That's the reason why I despise EPs, particularly those which are hugely successful. It makes as though Gaga only had just 1 hugely successful era, when in reality she had two (and three for the first half of BTW). But anyway, I wouldn't mind a second "major" EP with the intention of combining its sales with ARTPOP.

I'm okay with her trying that for The Voice, especially given that shows vocal-centric pretentions, Xtina's presence and that she's already sung it twice in US.
