Question.

Did she seek these Katy fans out? What would make her reply to them unless they have been sending her nasty or mean comments. I don’t blame her for blocking them! Good for her.

As far as changing the name, well I think her intentions were good. She wants to see music+artists without the labels. And I guess she probably hasn’t spent enough time in an online fandom to get this. I mean I can probably name several adults in my life who would think these kind of usernames are silly, but from a fans perspective it makes sense to us. Just try and put yourself in GAGA’s shoes. She is seeing it differently from an artist standpoint if that makes sense.

She didn't seek them out, they tweeted her. ;) And I fully agree :trootea:

but like that katykat is also a Gaga fan, so I think Gaga made a reasonable request. She wants the individual to promote online kindness. If you're going to be her fan you have to exude kindness. I think that's fair.

Am I the only one who came in here thinking Gaga told the katyCats to change their fan name, like as in "KatyCats" the name of their fandom... :awkney:

I'm SO GLAD she did this. And it's very telling how a lot of fans have been pissed off about it .

This is exactly in the spirit of Born this way, which has been so important to so many fans. We all want acceptance for who we are. And the Internet is a vile thing that breeds negativity. It's getting out of control, and artists are getting buried underneath it. I'd say around 70% of the stuff I've read about Gaga in the ARTPOP era via the blogosphere and social media has been through the 'prism', if you like, of fan bases hating on each other.

Hello Alexa Chung, Perez, countless Stan wars - and the Stan fans who carry out these flame wars are not doing anything because of Gaga - it's because they're lives are currently devoid of anything substantial / they aren't honouring they're own potential / they are spewing negativity to feel better about inner latent rage / it's become a mind numming habit to throw **** about an artist whose in competition to your 'own'. Word to the wise, none of us own Gaga.

And all the Madonna fans who want to destroy Gaga. And all the Gaga fans who throw death threat **** all over the place. Let me tell you, Gaga don't need you to spam any haters timeline with equally hateful crap.

Get your own life. Snatch your own weave. You ain't Gaga. It's time for the monsters to grow.

Kelly Osbourne called Gaga out a year ago saying yeah Born this way but why aren't you telling your fans this specifically in terms of the Internet crap that happens? And I'm so glad she's doing it today. She's like that amazing kindly school teacher in infants school, I feel. The one that every kid loved because she was so amazing and loving. But now and again that school teacher really needed to put her foot down and send a couple of those kids out of the room. Blocking a fan today may have felt shocking, how could 'mommy'?

Well I think today was a turning point. Time to wake up and smell today's canvas. You want Gaga to continue being the most revolutionary pop artist out there? Well you better grow up and keep up with her true message. Otherwise this fan base will stifle her and be responsible for destroying her space in the pop landscape.

The best performance of this era I feel was ARTPOP at the ARTRAVE. Gaga at her conceptual best, channeling Legend Leigh Bowry (look it up) riding through the heart of her fan base, removing the hierarchy of stage performer and audience. Performing sublimely while subtly throwing down alcohol glasses that fans casually left next to her blood sweat and ART. And then the crescendo, her fans going crazy, waves circling all around her, threatening almost to swallow her whole. A preety good metaphor for little monsters in some ways. Paws up yeah, the monster beginning was magical. It's kinda soiled now. We need to elevate and grow up to the next level.

PEACE OUT

Have you seen half of your Twitter fans' display names?

She blocked one of the most famous Gaga fan accounts on Twitter because he said bad stuff about Katy. I guess that's enough :teehee:

What's funny is that I remember people complaining about how she never did anything to stop the negativity... Yet when she takes action, it's apparently not good enough and won't make a difference.

At least she's trying and has good intentions.

Yes, she tried to act above it and ignore it, and she still got venomous hate from rival pop stans and people saying the actions of stans negated her message.

Just be glad we have her active on twitter again. I think she went away for awhile because of all the negativity.

the funny thing about this thread is that by making the OP and title only about the Katycats, even when she also blocked and talked about her own fan  base,  is exactly the kind of  behavior she wants to get rid of.
