I just wish the election was this year and snl had bigger ratings at it usually happens. Back in 2008 when Tina Fey was impersonating Sarah Palin and she appeared on stage with her the show drew 14 million viewers, the biggest viewership since 1994. Of course that week the musical guest was Adele who was promoting 19, 9 months after its release cause until then she was on vacation with her bf or smth. That lucky b---h

How?

I just know on that billboard article recently about the most helpful venues for musicians to showcase their music, they mentioned that Macklemore's sales went up like 78% or something after appearing on SNL.

He's a fairly new artist, so I doubt Gaga's effect would be nearly that great. But a significant boost seems likely.

Arturo

The lowest rated show of the season for SNL was 3.9M

The musical guest was Janelle Monae
It's safe to say Gaga will pull in 4M.

Whispering

21 had great promotion, she had 4 Late Night talk shows in her first week. We could dream of that.

It didn't have long term promotion, spread out along an album cycle that broke records that went back to the days of Whitney Houston and even some back to the 50s. There's no way to do enough promo to keep an album at #1 for 21 weeks, a year after it was released. That 21 week surge was brought on by a single performance in the US. That's mind-boggling and it's something that happens MAYBE once a decade. The promo did not equal the results.

That's true. But a lot of the hype over 21 was thanks to:

1. The massiveness of Rolling in the Deep and Someone Like You on radio

2. The promotion on the VMAs, BRIT awards, Grammys

3. All awards won at the Grammys. That week she sold like 1,4 mil records in the US alone :deadbanana:

The Miley episode pulled in 6.7 million viewers

Really? :omg:

Quen of ratings tbh
