People liked TFM so much because she let the music speak for itself. All she did was sing and perform her ass off. She made pop music fun. She made being weird fun. Now she's going way too deep into the art schitck and people are sick of it

 

Well, yeah, I agree with that. She was mainly just a song, video and outfit at the time. Now she's mainly a statement with her work in the background.

No **** she was gonna have a flop album. Everyone knew that. She was on the top for a long time, she had to come down sometime.

She either needs to promote the f**k out of this album and release some vids/sort her singles out, or she needs to plan her next album allot better. 

 

Maybe part two could be really good and people will like it?

I think what it is, based on majority of the reviews, is that she keeps rambling on about art, but she's making dance music about people retweeting her. What is artistic about that?

I don't think the public cares what she has to say. The antics and just outright annoying behavior from 2011 combined with people forgetting about her over the blackout culminated to this.

It's not the end of the world, it's a decent enough debut that she won't be eaten alive by mainstream critics even though she will by haters. But it shows she's starting from pre TFM levels which is scary, and she's starting not as a new girl but as someone that left a bitter taste in a buyers mouth.

With songs like DWUW and gypsy I'm sure she can at least have a sizable album cycle.

To begin planning for part two or suddenly putting together an entire new plan from the first week would be really irresponsible and silly.

It's a rough start, but certainly not an era ending start.

It better  If it's really "more experimental songs" like she said it was maybe the critics will like it more.

Yup. And that's all there is to say. The sales are devastating, but there's nothing else to do.

Let's hope it can at least pull Unapologetic numbers. It'd be nice if she pumped out a couple more hits and we got TTAL numbers.

Yeah but ARTPOP could have sold five million copies in it's first week and they would have said it's all some scam and it really flopped. These are people that said BTW was a flop :/

Why does she need to pick? She has pop songs on caliber with TFM on ARTPOP and she's talking about art works she loves. Isn't that the entire point of the era?

I'm sorry, but she does not have ONE single song on ARTPOP that is on the same caliber as Bad Romance. She doesn't.

I feel like Gypsy can be that song... But we all thought MTN was a #1 for sure, idk what to think anymore. Let's just gift the album as much as possible.
