tokyodisko 0
Precisely. If anything, his verse takes the song into a completely different direction and the song becomes just another 'hey, bling, clubs, let's make out' tune and the message is lost. With Christina, LG gets to make a point AND flirt with some girl on girl vibes, if you get my point. Yes, and I think that because both have had media bashing them for "flops" and fluctuated weight, it is like them giving the fingers to everyone. R. Kelly might sound good, but he dumbs the entire song down with his verse.

tristessa 0
THIS. Nor do I think that recording it with Christina loses any meaning. If anything it adds more, because R Kelly's verse didn't even have to do with the theme. The song has a double-entendre s-xual meaning which his verse adds to. Singing "do what you want with my body" gets a whole new meaning when you think about the kind of figure he is, as well. The Marilyn/President theme is presented in his verse and was the basis of the whole performance on the AMA's. His verse does add to the song, if you ask me, and gives it an extra layer in the process. Xtina's is great, but all it really adds is more of a female-empowerment, "grinding through the pain" kind of vibe without the innuendos that were intended in the original. But to me, even the whole Marilyn/President thing is unnecessary. As a symbol, it's a pretty tenuous one because it's about exploitation. Marilyn was used by the president and exploited by the press, I guess, so it's ok. Adding R Kelly to the mix, well... hey, she's the artist and it was her idea. With his reputation and the vibes I get from him, it becomes something I am just not attracted to, shock factor or no shock factor. But it's just my opinion. MeryJaneHolland 0
I love a lot of the looks this era, especially a lot with the dreads. And all the looks towards the beginning with the spectrum glasses and the big shakira looking hair were perfect. I feel like we've just seen her a lot on like off days where shes just wearing flannels and nothing special My only complaint is that the looks have been all over the place and there hasnt really been a "theme" to the looks like the other eras have had so far. zack 15
1- Yes, he is a great artist. 2- No, that DON'T save him from all the ****ed up things he did. 3- Yes, we know that's part of DWUW messagem, not caring about what the media does or says. 4- No, it doesn't change the fact that Gaga's only concearn with the media is the fake rumors that she's fat or illuminatti, or that her career is over because she didn't get a #1, the media attacks R. Kelly because of a really bad thing HE DID, hes mostly paying for what he did. It's like getting Chris Brown on that song and saying we HAVE to forgive him because he had some hits and the media is just wrong for picking him up for the Rihanna story. Ronk 14,762
He made his own bed by doing nasty things to people. Can his number one singles save him from hurting others? No! So stop going by ratings and just the music and look at who he is as a person. Gaga is a good person, and any collab with R. Kelly reflects badly on her. Any association with him at all reflects badly on her. It makes no difference that he is talented and a legend. I live outside the space time continuum. That was part of the point, in my opinion. Exploitation is really one of the main themes of the song, and even if it is a shaky comparison, both artists have been exploited by the media and R Kelly has been notorious for exploiting others. Marilyn Monroe was exploited in numerous ways and her whole affair with the president may have lead to her untimely demise, so it's even possible Gaga was using his symbol as a reference to the s-xual exploitation of herself or women in general. In my opinion, Gaga had a lot going on in her head when she thought to add him to the song. The idea that she is now regretting it is dubious to me, but we really don't know. Ultimately it's not hard to get why you and a lot of people would be repelled by it, and I think she must have at least considered that.
mic 1,415
She used to be queen of high fashion style, now she's like - meh because she doesn't care anymore. She is every icon, ARTPOP can mean anything and in result - we get worse quality.

I think something happened internally. As my Lovely Zilla said... She also believes it was internally. Not that she agrees with my opinion. if anything im agreeing and speaking out about it. ChasingGhosts 726
THANK YOU, i was wondering how long would it take for someone to say this he is part of the song for a reason, wanna focus on the pee, or wanna focus on the music? its that simple His past might be bad, and if he does deserve to be punished then I hope he will, but If i can enjoy good music, good songs, good talent, then idc, i dont see why one has to neglect the other How many sugars? :tea: Born This Way > Joanne > The Fame Monster > The Fame > ARTPOP
Cappuccino 11
she wears both casual and amazing fashion her outfits over the past two years have been bleh? i really beg to differ. i think in some ways she is trying to tone down the 'crazy', yes she has her crazy days but i think she is trying to change her image. thats how she got peoples attention, now she needs to keep it. it's an ongoing process. take the bubble dress, first a gimmick now a working, technological outfit. I honestly think the latest bubble dress was tryhard and kinda boring . In another way its less creative. As the dress just made out of bubble blowing machine run off battery. PopBitch 1,218
What makes him creepy - to me - is that he brings his exploits almost literally into his art. He boasts and brags and thus, to me, makes it virtually impossible now to separate him, the person, from his music - and because as a person he creeps me out, I am less likely to ever again enjoy his music. I believe this is not just something unique to me, either. The recent Village Voice expose which made waves was incredibly widely shared. He had to comment on it, but it wasn't much, more like: Eh, haters gonna hate cuz I'm famous Exactly. His art is reflecting his sick perversions. Pass.
