Princess Die

Leave it to this team to completely botch this single era...one of the most commercially promising she's had in ages. Yikes.

What team? :Troll:

I have two theories on this:

1) People who love The Fame but not newer Gaga albums probably gave up and don't log on. Everyone here is still excited about new Gaga and new developments so active membership skews toward people excited about the newest things ie ARTPOP

2) People need time to see things in perspective and appreciate older albums again, this is already happening with BTW whereas if you came on here around the time of ARTPOP release everybody dragged BTW.

The Fame is obviously stellar this was just my idea of why it gets such treatment atm

It's her second best album. Her lyrics were good, funny and clever and NOT cringe worthy (like the ARTPOP lyrics) and vocals on that album were so good and pleasing to the ear back then, compared to what they have become

Tho it's actually her personality and the quality in music videos, performances, looks/fashion from that era that I really miss

This :giveup:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laIr_d0hFB8

I agree with you. But it seems like even TFM is bashed now ("Too commercial", "Not the real Gaga", etc...).

Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) (The Live Acoustic Version tho :awkney: )
Beautiful, Dirty, Rich

Personally I prefer her vocals during TF :ohno:

She used to perform just with her voice. With ARTPOP it's really hard to hear her voice, I usually hear the track + the recorded vocals and that's it

its ironic because the ARTPOP era serves as her best performance vocals to date. her absolute best. even since born this way, her voice sounds more mature and developed. she use to struggle to sing songs like telephone during the chorus, where she hits a high c, now, she does the same with venus and aura and its so much more effortless and yet powerful.

also with the fame, the way she sings is half the problem.she would write hooks the emphasize the wrong part of the word, she would over pronounce words in a way that sounds so hacky and weird, and her voice just sounded tired and husky, but not in a dope/soulful kinda way like now.

I will always defend TF/M :hor: people seem to forget how good these albums are, just because they're "old".

I totally agree with you. TF is a huge a--lysis of the fame and Gaga genuinely plays with the words in order to share different stories in one song (Paparazzi, Poker Face and Paper Gangsta for example). It's definitely underrated and it's sad, especially because she explained the meanings of each song several times. Plus, she was always trying to reinvent the songs when she had to perform live, giving eventually new ways to understand her works.

To me ARTPOP is a great album, but in terms of artistry it lacks something important imo : Gaga's mark (I can only find it in Venus...). Some people say "Now she does art, before it was commercial" but I don't think that way, especially because of all her performances (each one was different from the others) and also because back in 2008/9 she was really innovative and sometimes risky (today it seems commercial just because of the other artists who used the "Gaga wave").

People will call me a fake fan if I continue to give my opinion about ARTPOP :awkney:

Agree, her performances always add new layers to her songs and during TF I think this was especially evident because some of the underlying messages or themes (they're there, lol) may have seemed less obvious than in say, BTW. And I agree it often seems quite underrated - it took me a second to appreciate TF but I think if you do look deeper, there's still a lot to it, lyrically and everything. :)

I still think ARTPOP's a good album though, and I think it's still sort of got that Gaga mark in its own way. It's just that it's not - and shouldn't be - static but always changing, and the progression of her work has definitely shown that, whether or not we view one work as better than the other.

Anyway, I don't think you're a fake fan for your opinion at all. But seriously I'll be quiet now so it's okay, lol. :derpga:
