Don't get too confident with these underwhelming first week sales; that's not the focus for them. They focus on longevity, and their massive promo is carrying out in retail stores all throughout the holiday season. I mean, just Target alone plays Roar on their TVs like every 10 minutes, AND they play a 30-second interview of Katy talking about Prism. She has Walmart promo too right? Buying Katy's CD for a holiday gift is unlikely to upset people. Gaga's on the other hand... people either like her or they don't- not many in-betweens with her. Like Bryan said, bubbling under the top 10/20 is fine right now. It's like the song is starting at the bottom, except with DWUW it actually has a little head-start from promo single hype. It still has very high sales considering the little AI to accompany it. Unconditionally sits at #18 on iTunes with 45 AI's, meanwhile DWUW sits at #23 with 7AI's. That is quite a large differential. Unconditionally has 5.42x the airplay of DWUW yet is only 5 spots ahead with sales. It is very good, taking all that into consideration. Can't wait to see/witness where DWUW will go. It'll really be a testament to her career and her as an artists, showing she can be diverse and chart (no pun intended) into new territory she hasn't before. It will only benefit her in the end.
