Emvee 7,793
The bridge is awful though Venus is so disjointed I'm sticking to my gut feeling (which worked with Judas). Venus is a US flop waiting to happen.
craig 680
http://headlineplanet.com/home/2013/10/23/katy-perry-prism-album-sales/ A ubiquitous album that established Katy Perry as the reigning queen of pop, “Teenage Dream†ended up selling more than 2.7M copies to prove the singer-songwriter was not simply the woman behind the latest interchangeable voice on the radio. She was a uniquely recognizable, ardently supported pop star. She was someone who, moving forward, should have the ability to sell serious quantities of albums. The difference between Perry’s profile upon launching lead single “California Gurls†in 2010 and upon closing the album’s cycle in 2012 was one of night and day. And since commencing the “Prism†campaign this summer, Perry’s star has only grown. “Roar,†her first cut off the album, became an instant smash and scored the best weekly download mark of her career. It made Perry only harder to avoid and sparked incredible buzz for the “Prism†release. It made October 22, the release day, seem more like a pop culture event than an album release day. A total of less than 300,000 copies–or, realistically, anything under 450,000–does not jibe with that build-up. It does not reflect the exponential growth in star power and fanbase that came after “Teenage Dream†moved 192K units in its first week. It, at best, reflects what a hit album would do in its debut week. It does not befit a monster release and certainly does not establish “Prism†as a pop culture phenomenon. RabbitHeart 793
Is Interscope like...waiting until all the full album promo (with promo singles and stuff) is out of the way before full on promoting DWUW? Is that why the radio add dates aren't until later, they didn't rush with the audio video unblocking, and she isn't performing just DWUW on X-Factor?

Yeah I don't get how as bad as what people perceive her to be... Katy is much worse album wise. Gaga is an albums artists and will eclipse Katy with her album sales. Love that article cause it shows how many were running with the idea Katy was the new queen who does everything perfect, and was going to smash Gaga. Emvee 7,793
It really does sound like three songs conjoined into one. I'm really curious to see what critics/reviewers will say. That this aggressively electronic song with unconventional lyrics is hitting well with her fan base comes as no surprise to me. We're a primarly queer fan base, lol, of course we're gonna love it. But singles should be perceived as larger than this stan base. Her career "lives or dies on top 40 radio."
