Applause had a good and proper run, but it's the second single's turn now. I think it would have served better promo if DWUW was added this week, as it would have given it an extra week to gain footing and traction and that extra week would have got more people hearing it in time for ARTPOP album release. Now DWUW will have only been released for a week before the album release, which isn't that great imo, especially since DWUW will be the the official song promoting the album. I'd rather have Roar's success, and everyone should, because the song was a monster on both radio and digital let alone It's still top 5 on Itunes .. This is hardly frontloaded .. I mean It Is but the fastest song to cross 3M sales... give me those short living singles please 15 Lady Gaga - Venus Australia Looks worse than it is. if you look at germany/japan/etc. kworb, venus isnt lasting in any of those places either lol. Gotta remember it came out almost a whole day earlier than US where dark red updates are taking over now too, and where there are more sales so songs fly up and fall down a bit slower. not bashing, but its not having the same staying power as DWUW. Technically, Applause is the song selling this album, although that's why Gaga released promo singles - to help sell the album, and right now, DWUW is really no different than Venus or Dope. All these made it a monster hit. Applause on the other hand has mediocore opening numbers and radio was late to catch on. The song has amazing longevity though + it is a club banger and has replay value. Roar is a bigger hit from every way you see it but Applause has actually still a lot of potential.
