Why no-one mentions Applause's longevity in the Hot 100? 10 weeks at the top 100 is not somethingnypundo every day!

PoshLife

I think there are more people accusing us of meltdowns than there are people actually melting down.

Most of us in here like DWUW but just wish the promotion was going more smoothly.

It doesn't bother me that much that it's dark red and falling everywhere, we all should know that iTunes is only a good indicator of success in big English-speaking countries (NZ, Aus, Canada, US, UK).

In Europe (besides UK, idk about Ireland), East-Asia, South America, iTunes is NOT relevant. GL with your #1 in 83 countries but in most of them she sold less than 100 copies for that #1.

Justin Bieber can have iTunes #1 all over the world, but that does not make his single successful or his peak high anywhere.

What's more important is

1. Longetivity

2. How it boosts album sales

3. How it performs on Radio stations all over the world.

4. Streaming

Gaga might be #1 in let's say Sweden right now, but will it actually help her a lot? NO. In Sweden, people don't buy songs a lot. In Sweden, people stream songs from Spotify and etc. Sweden is the #2 Spotify market despite having a low population compared to the UK, US, Germany, France and Italy.

So, what is Gaga missing right now?

1. STREAMING - outside of English-speaking big music markets, a really low amount of people buy singles on iTunes and a really low amount of people buy singles rather than albums. Streaming is way more important than sales in most of the world, Spotify is the best way to measure global popularity. Youtube views are the way the GP measures whether a song is popular or not. Applause did okay, Wrecking Ball SLAYED, Roar did great, etc.

This is why the fact that a really low amount of people can view the audio is really disappointing and will hurt the single success a lot.

2. AIRPLAY - this isn't as important as streaming, but longetivity on radio is key for a song to be memorable. Peak isn't nearly as important as longetivity. And when looking at airplay peak, you only look at the popularity in the US, not worldwide.

Applause had a low amount of Airplay worldwide (I think it did alright in Germany but not exactly good outside of the US/Canada/Germany).

What also is important for a song to do well Worldwide is how well it still is doing when physical copies/the album goes on sale. If DWYW is over in 6 weeks time from now (the physical release), it'll hurt the single sales a lot. What would also help Gaga a lot is if you could buy the album physically and get 5 remixes of choice for only $0.50 each :hor:

Yes but the meltdowns have become unbeareble! Its like you can't all keep them for yourselfs. This is the US discussion thread not the chartflop tread! Me and many others come here to see the charts, not to ruin our mood!
