Guys, I had a little meltdown because I felt the decision was a bit messy, but I'm already over it and accepted the fact that this song is gonna slay the **** out of pop music.

Yeah, it's a confession. I beg pardon for my drama. If anything, it was my first gaga meltdown and I've been here for two years LOL

I love this era.

HOW CAN YOU GUYS TELL VENUS IS A BETTER SONG WHAT THE HELL YOU GUYS ARE CRAZY  :nails:

Exactly. How do people freak out over something they havent even heard?

This is all a marketing scheme or scam I should say that reinforces my theory that the music industry inflates the number of sales to create a hype. The hype's purpose is to give the impression that the song (or album) is doing great, which will encourage more people to buy it, which will feed the hype and goes in circle.

Most of the DWUW sales come from the pre-orders and I think this is a very smart, unconventional way of feeding the hype. There is no way that this song would have generated such a worldwide interest, not that t doesn't deserve it cause I think it certainly does, but because it wasn't promoted in a way to make it slay sale records the way it does. I think its first days sales reflect the ARTPOP pre-order sales, which is why it reached # 1 so fast and in so many countries. Now that it has caught the public's attention and that it was serviced to radios, the song will continue the momentum it gained.

I do hope it smashes the charts, not that they are that important, but because Gaga needs to cater to a larger audience than us.

This! It's always been that way, people will talk about this certain track and it will promote itself once it reaches a certain chart spot. Just like Royals.

People have created in their minds this huge epic radio power house and can't seem to come back to reality and see just how perfect DWUW is for the radio. The song is already doing so well, why not give it some more room to grow? Noooo... We must put out Venus cause like, whoa... It sounds way awesome in my head.

Btw I've typed 'lady gaga do what u want review' in google and almost all reviews I found are negative. I know it's not important but still we can't say GP LOVES the song.

It's frikkin second single, it should be mind-blowing. And in fact it's not, it's just good song. it's lady ****in gaga she needs to release masterpieces.

She just followed the initial chart success pulled by pre-orders, don't know what to think about it, coming week will tell the truth.

She used to say she release the songs for artistry, not chart success, now she denied that.

I know that she is still popstar but hey.

PEOPLE LISTEN: if Venus was this amazing song everyone talks about it would still be released as the first single. If Interscope chooses to skip it one more time is because it is not what we expect or it will EVENTUALLY be released depending on the success of the record.

I can't at fans thinking they are music industry experts.... The same ones who thought Applause would flop

i cbf reading the whole thread but like what if she releases Venus next week and it knocks DWUW off the number 1 spot. she should have let the audience at least compare the two songs before she (interscope) decided on this.

this. she should have waited until after venus comes out in order to decide which one should be the official single

look at it positively: at least she didn't release J&D as the promos single. Given that the sales would have reflected pre-orders, we would have had it as the second single  :lolgaga:

DWUW is great because it sounds like nothing else on the radio right now. I really hope it doesn't overshadow Venus' future shot at a single if it's as good as it's supposed to be.

Why can't she release both as singles and then pick whatever one does better after a week or two?

This is why she shouldn't release any promo single. It's such a mess.

Performing new songs on itunes festival was already a better alternative for promo single.
