Raikov 183
Okay. I've got some big feelings coming up, so prepare yourself. This song is everything I wanted from Gaga and ARTPOP but didn't know I needed. It's great. It's not like Aura where I heard the verses and was like "oh, Judas again." It's fresh, bizarre, and that's just how I like it. I just don't want to build up expectations for the chorus... I mean, ARTPOP and Sexxx Dreams had cool verses but disappointing choruses. I feel Venus is different, though. And it comes right after Aura ugh my body is not ready. I feel like this is the gamble they needed to take after Applause... or maybe even instead of Applause. Those weird-ass lyrics, harmonies, the sudden break in the beat to say "Venus," it's such a package. I have no idea what a garden panty is but it needs to stay. DWUW feels disgustingly safe after hearing this, and I like DWUW. Can we all stop acting like we have a fundamental understanding of what the "GP" wants or likes? We've assumed now that something needs to be completely de-void of ambition to do well on radio. Completely untrue. It's all based on context and timing, and based on the snippet alone, Venus sounds like a Pokerface/Bad Romance caliber hit. A song needs to make an impression to be well-received by people, that's it. Applause didn't click with people at first but it lingered long enough to get on people's good sides. DWUW rested on the quick nostalgia of listening to R Kelly, but it's gonna need a more solid promotional push to stay afloat. Venus, on the other hand, sounds like an effortless hit. You don't think a song with lyrics like "Garden Panty" would be a hit? It's a hilarious line. People would eat that up. THIS! Even if it's bizarre, I think that's a good thing. You guys forget that Applause has lyrics like "one second I'm a Koons fan, suddenly the Koons is me" and "I overheard your theory, nostalgia's for geeks." I live for these harmonies anyway. A lot of you say it's so ABBA? What Abba song does it sound like? Lol I have their whole discography and I don't really hear it Ha ha, this! I guess it's just that it has a lot of harmonies? Vaguely reminds me of "Lay All Your Love On Me," but ABBA is the last comparison I'd make... and I'm a big fan of them.
dynamite 58,809
Idk man, I think this could actually sound awesome on the radio. It would be weird enough to capture peoples attention but interesting and catchy enough to keep them listening. giskardsb 12,565
Yeah, every single song we've heard has had different style vocals, both with the production and the way she sings. Its amazing. One of my major reasons for being a Gaga fan. She uses her voice like no other. Everybody else has one sound. Gaga on the other hand...
Mills 446
Just listened to it, and so far, I further understand why DWUW was rapidly sent as the official 2nd single upon its release. Venus reminds me of HML. And there's a reason why HML wasn't a single material to me.
Prometheus 1,494
Venus had so much potential I still like it, but it isn't single material in my opinion...then again I'm not a music connoisseur.
soDOPE 0
I don't think anyone can REALLY say they are happy about the switch until after you hear Venus in full. You don't even know the chorus yet!! DWUW is on the same level as So Happy I Could Die, completely brilliant but not a single IMO so I'm curious to see which really is the superior track. Dayman 6,174
I didn't care that DWYW was made the second single. But now I care. Venus is so different and refreshing! I love it! "Aphrodite lady. Seashell bikini. Garden panty. Venus." :ghostlegend: :nooo:

Eros92 2,513
I thought it was rather ABBA-esq. Which isn't a bad thing at all. I get like a late 70's disco/80's synthy pop feel to it and I love it. It's retro yet very fresh sounding at the same time.
